Hi I'm Candace

I play volleyball and love to sing. I'm 19 years old and am serving a mission in Stockholm, Sweden. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm 6'1'' and love to play volleyball. I'm up for anything outdoors and love walking around barefoot and going on adventures... hiking, biking, 4-wheeling, boating... you get the point. I love to sing and especially sing Jazz music. I have two sisters, one brother-in-law and one darling little nephew. I was raised in Kaysville, Utah but am currently serving a mission in Sweden!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was young, the reason I was Mormon was because that is all I knew. My entire family is Mormon so I went to church each Sunday, read scriptures and prayed daily as was expected. As I grew up though, I was only doing those things because I had been told to. I wasn't putting much effort or care into it so in return I wasn't gaining very much. I was easily angered and a self-centered child. The change in my life came when I attended EFY, an organization of the church geared towards youth and filled with fun activities but also spiritual opportunities. I was 14 years old at the time and clearly remember feeling the Spirit stronger than I had ever before felt it. It was an eye-opening experience which has changed my life for the better. I began reading and praying because I wanted to and it made me happy! I began attending church with a purpose for being there. As I studied more about Christ and the teachings from the gospel, I developed a greater love and appreciation towards others and most importantly for my family. I won't pretend I'm perfect by saying from that time forward that I've always been happy. There definitely have been times of anger and frustration since but the happiness I've received from the gospel FAR outweighs those times. I truly can say that I am happy. :) I believe in the teachings of this church because it brings me happiness. That is what this life is all about, being happy. Everything God has given us is to make us happy. It's true.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving as a missionary for my church so I teach others about my faith each and every day! Back home I was the sport director for the youth in my ward. I really enjoyed doing that and getting to know the youth more personally. Plus, I got to coach youngins! Who wouldn't enjoy that?! Two summers ago, I had the opportunity to serve with a humanitarian group in Fiji for 2 1/2 weeks which was a great learning experience. It helped me gain a better perspective and absolutely fall in love with the Fijian people! I have participated in church activities all my life and do my best to be a good example to others. :)
