Hi I'm Joseph Hoffman

I am currently going to college. I love riding motorcycles and cooking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from the Northwest United States - beautiful Washington. I love mostly anything outside: hiking, camping, swimming, riding bicycles, motorcycles, running, throwing a football around and shooting hoops with friends. I LOVE my family. I am the youngest of seven kids. I have been an uncle since before I was three, and have had the opportunity to learn from mature siblings, and enjoy the playful innocence of their children. I am going to school where I have met the love of my life and best friend who I will marry in just a few months. :)

Why I am a Mormon

Psalm 116: 10 reads, “I believed, therefore have I spoken.” I learned to read by reading as a family from the Book of Mormon and Bible. I learned to speak by my parents helping me pray. I grew up with the teaching of God in my home. It was natural to me. I was blessed with a believing heart. As I believed I testified with word and deed as I strived to obey what my parents had taught me. Through the years I came to the drastic realization that I needed to know if I truly believed these things for myself. I asked my Heavenly Father, through prayer, for confirmation. I knew that living what I had been taught would bring me more happiness than if I lived contrary to those teachings. However, I still needed added confirmation. This took patience and diligence. Even after I had served as a volunteer missionary of the Mormon Church for two years, in the beautiful lands of Jamaica and Turks and Caicos, I still needed tremendous reassurance and peace from my Heavenly Father that this was the correct path. He has sent that reassurance and peace. And just as importantly I have learned that I need that continually. I will always need Him to reveal Himself to me and bring that calming influence. Each day is a struggle to commune with Him in prayer. Each day is a struggle to learn His word through scripture. Each day is a struggle not to judge, criticize and think ill of others. I am a Mormon because I believe in Christ. I am a Mormon because I want to be a better person, the Mormon church helps me learn more about Jesus and He is the ONLY way I can find true happiness and eventual eternal joy with God and my family in Heaven! :)

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. Being a Mormon isn’t just a Sunday affair. I pray every morning and evening. I read and study scriptures every day. Every month I go with another man to visit certain families from our congregation. We help them in any way we can. We render service. We share an uplifting message. We bless them and their home. This is a church practice called home teaching. It ensures that each member is watched over and given extra strength as they need it. I strive to apply all that I learn so I can live up to my potential as God’s son, while I gain an education and prepare for a family and career. How I live my faith isn’t just a matter of what I do and don’t do. How I live my faith is who I am and how I allow the teachings of Jesus Christ to constantly refine me. At times it is really hard to choose Jesus as my Savior and friend. It is hard to choose faith in Heavenly Father, but I KNOW it is worth the price. Each day is a blessing and each day is a trial. Each day I choose to live my faith. Each day I choose happiness. Each day I strive to be better, more optimistic, and more hopeful in the life God offers to me.
