Hi I'm Leigh Ann

I was born in Hollywood, CA. I have also lived in a variety of places. I am a wife, mother, and educator. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in California and raised in a family with a love of reading and learning. I was fortunate to live in Germany and England as a child and loved learning about the history and culture of Europe. I also developed a love of computers as a teenager and earned a degree in computer science and worked in the industry. Later on, as a parent, I became in concerned about the availability of quality education for all children. I went back to school and studied education and specifically about how children learn to read. I have worked part-time as a researcher and author on how to help improve how children learn to read. I still love to read and probably spend too much time doing it! I am also busy as wife and mother to six kids. I love spending time with them and seeing them grow and develop. I am also interested in exercise, knitting, gardening, and learning about food preservation.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into a Mormon family, I have made the conscious decision to be a member of the church. I was fortunate to receive a testimony of the truth of the gospel and the Book of Mormon as a young child. This testimony stood me in good stead, when as a young adult, my mother left the church. I was confused during the next few years and experienced some what I now know is clinical depression. After I graduated, I moved to a city where I had few friends and I felt lonely and didn't always make the best choices. However, I knew that I had a testimony and made a conscious choice to attend church and improve my choices. Over the years, my testimony has continued to grow and develop. I have learned to live by faith. I have learned that their are times that you can feel great sorrow and pain due to problems, but at the same time feel great joy because of the love of God and his great mercy. If we rely on Him, he will give us the strength to endure and as when we look back after we have gotten through our difficulties, we will see how we have grown and how He supported us. I know that He hears our prayers and answers them. I am so thankful for the gift of the Holy Ghost, for the witness he provides, for comfort, for knowledge, and for joy. I am so thankful for the sealing powers of the temple and for the joy and comfort it brings me to know that I an be with my family forever if we continue to live the gospel. My feelings about the gospel go to the core of who I am and who I want to be. They are at the core of my relationships with my children and husband. I want our relationships to continue through the eternities. I am so thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ and for His atonement for us and for our living, loving Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

We live our faith in the way we live our lives and the choices we make in how we spend our time. I have much room for improvement, but I try to start my day out by first reading from the scriptures and by reading from recent conference talks or church magazines or if I am teaching in church, from the lesson manual. It makes a big difference in how I feel during the day, when I start it out by reading the word of God. I am also very fortunate to currently work in primary, the organization for children in the church. I have worked as a teacher and in the nursery, but I am currently a counselor in the primary presidency. I love working with both the children and teachers, and enjoy working to meet their needs.
