Hi I'm Sami

I am a dancer. A daughter. A sister. A mac and cheese fanatic. A full time missionary in Texas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am studying at Brigham Young University where I am majoring in Physiology and Developmental Biology and minoring in dance, hoping to become an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports injuries. I am currently deferring my education to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

When the church was restored in the latter-day, my ancestors were apart of those who traveled across the country to escape religious persecution. Ever since those first family members were baptized, membership in the church has continued through the generations. However, although Mormonism is in my heritage, I have still discovered for myself the truth of the church through deep study and prayer. I am a Mormon because I have a firm testimony that this is Christ's restored church, and it contains the fullness of the Gospel that was established while Christ was on earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by constantly striving to be more Christlike, by serving others and being charitable. When serving others I feel closer to my savior. Acts can be as simple as shoveling the snow from a neighbors driveway, or volunteering at the local rest home. Also, by keeping his commandments by remaining chaste and avoiding the temptations of drugs and alcohol. By keeping myself pure and clean I show my Heavenly Father the respect I have for the body and gifts he has given me.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

We believe that obedience to God's commandments brings blessings. Therefore, we don't partake of tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, or illegal drugs so that we are qualified to receive the blessings that God intends to give us! Show more Show less

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Without the Atonement of Jesus Christ we cannot do anything! But with his grace, we can accomplish all things that God commands of us. That's the most important and most fundamental doctrine that we have here in the Church of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
