Hi I'm Sierra

I'm a college student learning to become a Speech and Language Pathologist. I am a missionary in Arizona Tucson. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am on a mission right now in the Arizona Tucson Mission, Spanish speaking! I am writing this now for the Provo MTC in Utah. I love being a missionary and I can't believe that I am finally here!!! I love to play viola, violin, guitar, piano, and electric viola. In college I actually had the opportunity to play in the Orchestra of Southern Utah which was so awesome! I have been a lifeguard and swim instructor since I was 16. I love college and all the experiences I am having here. It feels good earning my education and knowing what a difference I am going to make with my degree. I love children and I want to be able to make their lives better. As a speech teacher I will be able to help deaf students have greater communication skills and mobility in a world that has a difficult time being less selfish and more loving to those who are not exactly like them. I love serving others and making a difference in the world around me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the gospel and lived with a family that actively went to church. As a teenager I went through a rebellious stage where I really didn't believe the church was true and stopped praying and reading my scriptures. I was too focused on having a good time playing lacrosse, hanging out with friends, doing homework, working, etc. to find time for my Savior. After I had a very bad ATV accident that all changed. I was hospitalized and ended up in a wheelchair for a time. I found myself blaming God that this had happened, even though prior I had not even been acknowledging His existence. I realized that even before the accident I had not been truly happy. I found myself praying again and asking for strength in this trial. I began wanting to go to church and read my scriptures, not because it was just 'something I was supposed to do' because I was Mormon. I have continued to make mistakes and have trials, including 2 more surgeries because of the accident, yet I have been able to remain happy and that is because of the Gospel in my life. I want to share this happiness with others so they can also take part in this joy that I feel in this church.

How I live my faith

I am on a mission because I want to let others know of the joy that I feel from being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint. I loved going to different Institute classes and I love learning more about my Savior and His Gospel.
