Hi I'm Marcie

I'm happy at home in the heartland!

About Me

I grew up in Pennsylvania and northern Kentucky. I come from a large family of eight sisters and one brother. I have a bachelor and master's degrees in statistics, but right now I stay at home to care for our five children. Full-time motherhood is not easy or glamorous, but it is so worthwhile! I like sewing, knitting, doing crafts.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I choose to be a member of this Church, but I'll limit them to three. First and fundamentally is the doctrine of God and who He is. I know that He is my Heavenly Father, and that I am created in His image. I feel such comfort in worshipping a God who knows me and loves me as an individual and has a plan for my life. I can turn to Him as I would turn to my father on earth. The next reason is that the gospel helps me know Jesus Christ. I know that He is literally the Son of God, a separate being from His Father, who came to earth to teach us, establish His church, atone for our sins, and be resurrected. I love reading the words of the Savior in the Bible, and I appreciate the added understanding of His mission that the Book of Mormon contains. Reading the Book of Mormon strengthens my faith in Jesus Christ, and I know that it is true book. I've asked God about the truth of it and have felt warmth and peace to confirm to my heart that it is true. The final point I'll mention is that this Church is bold enough to say that God continues to speak to His children through prophets. It is evidence to me that God has not left us to stumble in the dark or to rely solely on the interpretation of ancient scripture to face modern challenges. I know that He is aware of us collectively, and He has given men today the authority to speak and act in His name and point out the path that leads back to Him. I have seen in my own life that following this path, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ, brings me true joy and inner peace.

How I live my faith

I want to show my love and gratitude to Jesus Christ by serving those around me. This motivated me to serve as a full-time missionary of the Church in northwest England for 18 months. Now I continue to serve in my congregation--I make monthly visits to three other women, to be their friend and to be aware of what needs they may have. I also have an assignment to type up and print the bulletin for our Sunday worship service each week. Closer to home, it is my opportunity to support my husband while he serves as the bishop (similar to a lay pastor) of our congregation, similar to a lay pastor, for a period of several years.
