Hi I'm Ashley Smoot

I'm the oldest of five girls. I'm a math education major at BYU. I love the Lord. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love math, piano, random dancing, awkward singles ward parties, ward choir, movie nights, drinking hot chocolate while it's snowing outside, and spending hours talking to my friends while laughing uncontrollably. I love my four little sisters, and my mom and dad. We all love spending time with our new baby sister who is 20 years younger than me. With all girls in my family, there is a lot of love and laughter, but we definitely have our moments. I'm now serving a mission in the Philippines Bacolod Mission and I couldn't be happier. The support my family gives me is incredible and I'm so lucky to be able to serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I don't know it because my parents told me or because that is what everyone else around me is doing. I know it because every time I pray and read the scriptures or follow a prompting given by the holy ghost, I can feel the spirit confirm to me that I am doing what is right. I feel comforted, peaceful, guided, and I feel happier. Whenever I stop listening to what I am supposed to do, or I stop reading my scriptures, I feel more alone, scared, stressed out, and lost. I know that the spirit of God, the Holy Ghost, is telling me that the Church is true, that Joseph Smith did see Jesus Christ and God, and that the Book of Mormon is a true Testament of Jesus Christ to help guide us through life in happiness.

How I live my faith

I am serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am living in Bacolod Philippines and I am helping others come unto Christ by sharing a message of the restored gospel on the earth today. I'm teaching in the Hiligaynon language, so it can be hard. But I know that the Lord can help us with all things throughout our entire life whether it is with learning, family, spirituality, physical trials or just to comfort our loneliness.
