Hi I'm Jimmy

I grew up in Texas. I go to school at BYU. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to try new things. I play several instruments, love going to school, and I love the thrill when you accomplish something for the first time. I'm preparing right now to serve a mission in Novosibirsk, Russia. Living somewhere as foreign as Russia makes me nervous. I know none of the language and very little of the customs and people so it will be new and exciting the entire time. I attend Brigham Young University, studying Mechanical Engineering, and I am excited to return and be a part of cougar nation once again! I speak English, French, and soon Russian and I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and all it has to offer.

Why I am a Mormon

I like logic. It is easy to commit to an idea when it can be quantified, measured, and proved, but feeling the Holy Ghost, working towards repentance, and trying to be like a Savior who died for our sins isn't quantifiable. It is difficult for me to put everything aside and have faith in something I can't measure or prove with Science. I wouldn't belong to a church that couldn't answer my questions or help me understand my feelings. My testimony of this gospel came from a lifetime of seeing the Lord's hand in my life. I know that there is no work more important than that of bringing souls to Jesus Christ and there is no other place on Earth with the fulness of His gospel than here in His church: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

Teaching is my favorite aspect of this gospel. There is something special about the moment when you can see the light click on behind somebody's eyes. Helping others come to Christ is a wonderful gift which our Father in Heaven allows us to have from time to time as we put ourselves in situations to be used by him. I strive to live my faith by teaching others through word and deed.
