Hi I'm Heather

I'm volleyball obsessed: Watch it, Play it, Coach it. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

If I were to describe myself I would definitely say I'm well rounded. I love the sciences, the arts, and sports! I play/coach volleyball and I love every second of it! I also play the flute which I started in the fifth grade and continued to play right through college. I graduate from college with a degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, which makes me a nerd too! I recently got married to the love of my life and now we're going through life hand in hand and I couldn't be happier.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born/raised as a Presbyterian. While going to church every Sunday I started thinking about what made every religion different? What makes a Catholic, a Catholic? A Protestant, a Protestant? As I continue on this quest to determine the differences between religions people that I spoke to about their religions never knew what set them apart. I was introduced to the LDS church through my husband. When I asked him the same question I had been posing for quite some time he was a wealth of knowledge. He knew what set him apart. He spoke of the Atonement, and Eternal Families, about being more Christ-like. Every sentence he spoke he started with, "We believe..." It was refreshing to find someone who knew so much about their beliefs. I wanted to know more and picked up the Book of Mormon which I read in its entirety in 3 weeks! I now know this is the religion I believe in and the one I want my family to be raised in. The greatest reason I love being Mormon is the thought that eternal families are possible. One of the most disconcerting thoughts is the thought of losing a loved one. What if you didn't have to think that way? Wouldn't you feel at peace? Reassured? It amazes me that a topic that was mentioned in the Bible would not be a prominent focus in any other religion. "And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be what has been bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be what has been loosed in heaven." Matthew 16:19 I know that if, as a family, we keep our covenants with the Lord, our families will be united eternally.

How I live my faith

I'm a recent convert so I have a lot to work on, learn, and grow from. My focus right now is praying and reading the scriptures daily with my husband. This helps us to strengthen our relationship with each other as well as strengthening our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
