Hi I'm Heidi

I am an artist and wanna-be scientist. I love making things beautiful and learning about the world around me. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my freshman year of college, and I am excited to continue my education. I am working on graduating with university honors, and in the future I plan on going to graduate or medical school. I am interested in medicine and art. I am putting my education aside for a while however, while I serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been called for the next 18 months to serve in the Berlin, Germany area. I love traveling, painting, drawing, reading, and hiking. I love life. I love being with the people I love. I am a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be God's true church on the earth today. I am a Mormon because I believe the Church to have the fulness of the gospel as restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. The question should be, why do I believe? Or, how do I know that this Church has the restored gospel truth? I know, because I have received a testimony by the Spirit. I have done my part to actively seek knowledge from God, and by doing so God has made the truth known to me. I was born into a family that was already a member of the Church, but I couldn't always rely on the testimonies of my parents. I had to become converted to the gospel myself. I am a Mormon because I have my own testimony now. I believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God, and I truly believe it is another testament of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because through prayer I have received witnesses of this book of gospel truth. Prayer works and the Book of Mormon is a true companion to the Bible.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday. On a personal level, every day begins and ends with prayer, and I often have a prayer in my heart. I try to live in a way that would be pleasing if the Savior stood beside me. I read my scriptures every day because they give me strength and guidance. The scriptures strengthen my faith, and make it easier for me to live what I believe. I wear a ring that says PRO on it, and it stands for my personal commitment to "pray, read, and obey everyday." I attend church with my family every Sunday, and it is an opportunity I cherish. Going to church strengthens me as a person both spiritually and physically. I love having the opportunity to serve the people in my community through the church. Every member is invited to participate in the church, and our "callings" help us strengthen our own faith and the faith of those we serve. Some of my callings have been those of leadership. I have been responsible for knowing the needs of other girls my age, and planning uplifting activities for us during weekly activities. I have also been on other planning committees where I help plan activities for larger groups within the church. We find strength in meeting together often, and engaging ourselves in wholesome and fun activities. I believe in serving my fellow men, not only in my church, but also those who are not members of the church. In high school I enjoyed planning a charity fashion show every spring, where we donated all the money to Primary Children's hospital in Salt Lake City. I try to be charitable in my actions, because I know that God gave me my life and all that I have, and it is my duty to help his other children here on earth. I say "I try" because I am not perfect. My hope is that as I come to Christ, I will become gradually perfected in Him.
