Hi I'm Sam

I grew up in Utah. I am a Eagle Scout. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently 18. I am serving a LDS mission in the Washington DC North mission speaking spanish. After my mission I plan on going to BYU Provo. Some of my favorite things to do include cooking, drawing, building things, learning to play musical instruments, and singing. But, above all I love to hang out with my family and friends. Family is really important to me, ever since the death of my older sister when I was seven I have tried to become closer to my family. And now my siblings are some of my best friends. I also really enjoy the outdoors, and physical activity. My favorite places to be are up in the mountains or on a trail hiking through a forest. It helps me to feel closer to my Heavenly Father when I am surrounded by his creations. When I was 13 I got my Eagle scout award and since then have received two eagle palms.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church, so I don't have a conversion story. But, the reason why I continue in this faith is because of what I have learned and what I feel when I read and learn from the Book of Mormon, and the other scriptural books. When I was seven my older sister died in a bad car accident. She was only two years older than me and she was my best friend. I was left with a traumatic brain injury and I had to go through two years of therapy to fully regain my balance. Our gospel teaches us that after we die we can see our family members in heaven, and I want to live worthily so that when I die I can return to heaven and live with my sister again.

How I live my faith

I participate in church every week. As part of my responsibilities at church I played the piano in our opening priesthood meetings every week. On Wednesdays the youth in our ward get together and find ways to serve, or to grow in our faith. I am currently serving my mission and sharing my testimony with the hispanic people of Washington D.C.
