Hi I'm Rebecca Murphy

I'm a small town girl. I love photography and the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to hike and go camping. The mountains are one of my favorite things in this world. I am a college freshmen who will major in nursing. I will be serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints this year, and I am extremely excited for this. It will be one of the greatest learning experiences of my life, but even greater, it will be an experience where I can teach the gospel to others. I have seen God's hand in my life every day since my conversion. I have grown up in the gospel, but I did not appreciate this or know what it means until 2011. I am do grateful for God's hand in my life. I have two nephews and a niece that have blessed my life and the life of my family beyond what I can say. I love my family and my friends. They teach me something new every day and I thank Heavenly Father for bringing them into my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family, so I have always had the influence of the gospel in my life. I have always had the image of Christ, the knowledge of the scriptures, and prayer, but I have not always appreciated them. There came a time in my life, after my parents had divorced and my mom and I were left to conquer life in a new area when we moved, that I felt lost. I did not feel of worth and knew that some of my choices had not been the greatest. It was at this time that I knelt down and said one of my first personal and sincere prayers to my Heavenly Father. From this experience, I had a desire to change. I found out that Heavenly Father is real, He is there and He listens when we speak to Him in prayer. I know this because I felt His love and forgiveness as I prayed. I know that he wants us to return to him, and the way to do this is through His gospel. His hand is in our lives to guide us to our great potential. We are his children and he loves us.

How I live my faith

My calling in the church, one of my responsibilities, is to be the chorister. I get to choose the songs and lead them. It is so great to be able to stand up front and see how the people feel God's love through the music. It is a simple gift we have received to provide comfort and joy.
