Hi I'm Maddie Flanery

Born and raised in Utah, love my family, and refuse to quit fighting to the finish. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Sister Flanery and yes, I am a sister missionary. I was called by a prophet of God to serve in the beautiful, hilly (I'm on a bike!) sometimes rainy, and all-over-the place state of Colorado! I love this opportunity I have to serve my God with all my heart, might, mind, and strength! It'll never be better than this 18 months!

Why I am a Mormon

Since I could crawl my momma has taught me how to pray. Every night, without fail, she'd kneel by my bed and pray with me, for me, and for our family. She would say, "My turn or your turn?" I'd respond, "You say better prayers." She'd smile, tell me it takes practice, and offer a beautiful prayer to our Father in Heaven. The next night would be my turn. Slowly, but surely, I learned how to pour out my heart to my God, and I've never stopped. I'm a Mormon because I know Heavenly Father answers my prayers. I'm a Mormon because my family will be eternal. I'm a Mormon because I know all that I've been taught is true. And I'll never go back. I'm a Mormon because I love my Brother, Jesus Christ, and I know He died. He died for me.

How I live my faith

I'm serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Others often see elders (the boy missionaries in suits) on their bikes, but for now it's us in skirts cruising down the hill (and walking up it!) "spreading the Gospel to all the world." Being a missionary means more to me than I ever thought it would! My companion and I (every day) have a day like this: Wake up at 6:30. Pray. Shower. Get ready. Pray. Eat breakfast. Study. Study. Study. Out the door by eleven. Back at noon. Pray. PB&J calling our names. Back out by one. Knock on doors. Laugh. Cry. Smile. Pray. Dinner at 6:00 (thanks for feeding us, friends!) Back out by seven. Knock on doors. Laugh. Cry. Smile. Pray. Home by nine. Pillows calling our names. Pray. And we're out!

In whom should we have faith?

Maddie Flanery
Having faith in my Savior and our Heavenly Father took time. As missionaries we often teach that faith is an action word. We walk by faith, not by sight. We go forward with faith. We build our faith. The only way I've learned to build my faith is by jumping. I promise, and I bear testimony, that He will catch us, and He will never let us fall. Show more Show less
