Hi I'm Miranda

I grew up in Payson, Utah. I was a college athlete. I'm serving a full time mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports. I grew up playing anything and everything and I still love to play! My parents and four brothers and sisters always supported me, came to my games, and took me out for icecream any time my team lost. All of those experiences have prepared me for what I'm doing--serving as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I'm serving in the California San Diego Mission and I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

When I share with people that, "I'm a Mormon," I'm not just telling people what Church I'm a member of. To me, it means so much more than that! I'm a Mormon because everything that I've learned from our Church (and I mean everything) has helped me to be a happier person, live a fuller life, and come closer to the Savior. The things that I learn at Church every Sunday have become a part of my every day life and I can't imagine living any other way. I was raised as a member of the church, along with the rest of my brothers and sisters, and the examples our parents gave us continue to be invaluable. My conversion to Jesus Christ came over years and years of attending church, reading the holy scriptures, serving others, and praying to our Heavenly Father. It was all worth it! I'm so happy to be able to truly say that I know that God is our Heavenly Father, that Jesus Christ is the savior of the world, and that this is his church!

How I live my faith

Part of my role as a missionary is to visit the members of our church as well as people who are interested in learning more about our church. I get to meet new people every day and learn about who they are, what they believe, and why. In turn, I get to share about some of our beliefs--mainly that God is our loving Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ is our Savior, and that they still guide us every day through the Holy Ghost. I'm currently serving in a Spanish speaking congregation, so I have plenty of opportunities every day to learn about different cultures and different religious backgrounds. I love sharing Jesus Christ's teachings with everyone that I meet!

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

They key word to keep in mind in this case is "preparation." The temple is a sacred place where we feel God's spirit very strongly. Anyone who is willing to prepare can become worthy to enter the temple and enjoy that spirit. The first steps of preparation are the ordinances of Baptism and Confirmation, performed by someone who holds the restored priesthood authority of God. The next steps of preparation are to keep God's commandments, to live the gospel of Jesus Christ, and receive a recommendation from an LDS Bishop to enter the temple. The temple doors are open to anyone who faithfully and diligently prepares to be worthy to enter. If you have any questions about what you need to do to enter the temple, ask a Mormon friend or a Mormon missionary near you! Show more Show less
