Hi I'm Caitlan

I grew up in Houston, Texas but am currently serving a mission in Kansas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 21 years old and am currently serving in the Kansas Wichita Mission. I mostly grew up in Spring (Houston), Texas, but I moved around a lot growing up so I never know where exactly to say I'm from. I love rock music (Mayday Parade & You Me At Six are my favorites) & I love just hanging out with my friends. Yellow is my favorite color since it makes me pretty happy. I am super close to my family and love being around them, no matter what we're doing. I went to BYU for 1 1/2 years studying Public Health and will return this upcoming Fall. I love learning about diseases. I know that's weird. And that's pretty much me! :)

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family that went to this Church- we went every Sunday and I was taught all of the Gospel principles while growing up. While yes, this is why I became a member when I was 8, this is not why I've chosen to stick around and absolutely love it. A dear friend of mine passed away when I was 14 and at that time I was also struggling to find myself and figure parts of my life out. When she died, I decided that I would finally ask for myself to know if this Church is true or not. I received a confirmation that it was most certainly true and that was when I truly got excited about the Gospel. When I turned 17, however, I was diagnosed with depression and my entire life turned upside down. The only thing I could hold onto during that incredibly confusing time was that I knew without a doubt that the Church is true. That knowledge saved my life again and again. Fortunately, the summer after I graduated high school, I started coming out of my depression and have been fully out of it for about 1 1/2 years now. I choose to follow this Gospel because I know it is true, it has saved my life, and it makes me so incredibly happy.

How I live my faith

I love going to Church on Sundays- it's something I look forward to all week and it always makes me happy. I recently served my ward by checking up on and encouraging people to do their visiting teaching. When the women turn 18 in my Church, we get to start visiting teaching- this is where 2 women are assigned to teach with one another to 2 or 3 other women in the ward. They not only teach these people a Gospel message, but they also get to serve and be a friend to them. It's basically like having an automatic friend- it's fantastic. :).
