Hi I'm Amy Baker

I live in Alaska. I grew up gold-mining.

About Me

I grew up in small town Idaho, well we lived there until I was 10. It was crazy small and one of those places where we rode our bikes everywhere, and everybody knows everybody. Then, my dad bought a gold mine in the middle of the bush of Alaska. After that we moved, ALOT! and spent part of every year out in the boonies. I LOVE it! I'm a slight workaholic. I love US History, hanging out with family, and outdoors!

Why I am a Mormon

I am one of the many members of my faith that was born into the church and baptized at eight years old. I was always a pretty straight laced kid, but I remember the first time I ever asked myself, "Is there even a God?" It bothered me that even though I thought I was a pretty good kid, I read from the scriptures everyday, and I prayed, I still didn't seem to know. I have come to learn that no faith is perfect, we all doubt at times. But God, does make good on his promises. Over the years, as I have prayed and studied and sought out the truth, I have felt the spirit testify of goodness and truth to me. That process continues in my life today. I can say I know the church is true, and I build my life around it because every one of me sincere prayers have been answered in one way or another. And that I cannot deny. This is the reason why I go to church, and choose to live the way I do.

How I live my faith

Because I live remotely for about half the year, I'm seen physically at church less than most Mormons (we're 4 hours from the nearest church building). But I have faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I know that His church is restored to the earth. It makes me happy. I am now currently serving a mission in the Nevada Las Vegas West mission. This was never something I thought I would do, but as time went on and things fell into place, I knew it was something I wanted to do. It is cool to be able to know that I am able to give ALL of my time to helping others and spreading the good news and happiness that the gospel has given me.
