Hi I'm Andrea Child

I'm a redhead from Salt lake City Utah. I love learning and doing new things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

well, I'm a redhead and so that means I'm a pretty spunky individual. I love doing spontaneous things with my friends. Cliff Jumping, horse back riding, and swimming. I was only in my first semester of college when President Monson announced the age change for missionary's. Seeing how my 19th birthday wasn't too far away I was ecstatic. I grew up in a home where everyone, from every background was welcome. Most of those families loved how we lived and ended up joining the church. I couldn't believe that I could be a full time missionary in only a few months! So as soon as possible, my papers were in, and now i'm going to be serving in the Chicago Illinois mission, spanish speaking!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? because it is the true church on this earth. I feel it everyday. The scriptures speak God's words. I can feel the spirit testify to me that they are true. I can see the prophecy's from the Doctrine and covenants coming to pass all around me. Many ancient prophets and modern prophets have testified of this great work. I live right in the middle of it! The church is being directed by God, there is no doubt in my mind. So many miracles happen everyday that have allowed the church to grow and touch millions of people's life's. My grandparents served a humanitarian mission in Egypt, improving living quality. My dad works for the temple division of the church and locates temple cites. The heavens guide those who are leading the church. I know it. I Live it. I love it.

How I live my faith

One thing that I think is unique to our religion is that it's a priority to give everyone a calling in the church. We want everyone to feel welcome and that their contribution is important (because it is). Even the youth are giving callings. Ever since I was twelve I've been apart of the Young women's presidency. That just entails that I make sure everyone is invited to the activities we have every week. It was my job to make sure everyone felt welcome. I also would start the meetings and share a scripture, things like that. When I was a senior in high school I was in Seminary Council. (seminary is an LDS religion class offered in school) I planned activities and dances, devotionals, meetings, the whole enchilada. It was our job to seek out individuals who felt lonely or who had stopped coming to the activities and make sure they had a friend to go with.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Andrea Child
Being a woman in the church I don't feel like my contribution is lessened because I don't have the priesthood. I know that I have an important part in building up the kingdom of Zion. I have faith that God knows what's best. The priesthood is meant to bless the lives of others. I'm constantly being blessed by it and have no reason to doubt. Show more Show less
