Hi I'm Lisa

I am an only child who was raised in a split family with split religious views, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of 2 young boys, and have been married for 15 years to my high school sweetheart and love of my life. I love to exercise, organize, scrapbook, craft and spend time with my family (even if it's doing nothing but watching a movie- I love those simple moments) I went to school to become an elementary teacher, but soon found out that that was not the path for me. After having my first facial, I realized that I would one day like to become and esthitician and will hopefully be able to return to school to learn the trade. I like to live simply and simply live and know that life is too short to take for granted.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon mostly because I have always had this overwhelming feeling that I am truly a daughter of God, and have always felt His unconditional love for me from a very young age. My parents seperated when I was 2 and shared joint custody. My mom was not a member of the church and never taught me any kind of religion. She did however teach me to be kind and caring, and made sure that I included everyone when I was playing with other kids. My dad was raised a mormon, but fell away from the church when he was in his 20's. He said the turning point in his life was the moment I was placed in his arms. He knew then, that Heavenly Father truly loved him by placing me into his hands, and that he now had the sacred duty of turning his life around and raising me in the gospel, so that we could return to our Father in heaven and become an eternal family. What keeps me living the gospel is an experience I had when I was about 9 years old. My dad was remarried at the time (and it was not a pleasant re-marriage). It was late at night, I was sitting at the kitchen table in the dark (not sure why), I had so much homework to do, the "new family life" was very difficult, my dad was working late, and I was extremely sad and lonely and felt so overwhelmed with life. I felt that there was no one who could help me, and I just started to sob. All of a sudden the song "You're not Alone" by Michael McLean started playing and I felt as if my Heavenly Father was standing right there in front of me, holding my hand and singing that song just for me. I knew from that moment on, that my Savior and Father in Heaven did in fact know me, love me, and cared about me, and knew what I was struggling with and were there to help me through it. Ever since then, I have always known that this church is true, and that our Heavenly Father loves EVERYONE as much as he loves me, and that this gospel is here to teach us that, and to show us how to return to Him and be with our families forever.

How I live my faith

I work with the young children at church (ages 3-12) and absolutely love it!! I am the secretary, which keeps things organized and running smoothly. And with the way I love to organize, it's definately the right place for me. I also volunteer as an art teacher in my sons school, and I love how excited the kids get when I come into the classroom. I love how honest they are, how excited they get over the simplest of things, and how the spirit and light of Christ shines so brightly from them. They remind me of how happy I was as a child and they make me want to be a better person and do better, so that I can be as good of an example to them, as they are to me.
