Hi I'm Shannon Hunter

Utah girl. Play violin. LOVE music, sports, art and celebrating life! Love being Irish and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I believe in celebrating life. I've played violin for 14 years. I enjoy being outside and I adore the rain. I'm going on a mission! I'm very excited about serving a mission. Never thought I would serve a mission but now that I've made the decision to go, I'm ecstatic about going! I went to BYU-Idaho for a year. I've played in the Timanogos Chamber Orchestra and I'm apart of Remembering Our Culture singing group. Love playing softball and soccer. Been to Ireland, Germany and Belgium. Basically I love Europe culture. Reading is my escape. Can't live without my fantasy, fiction and intense mystery. I absolutely love being around people. Especially my friends and family. I'm an aunt of 12 beautiful nieces and 12 studly nephews! They make me laugh and I love them so much! Making new friends and making people laugh is my favorite thing to do!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the amazing people that I see in my life. Living in Utah my whole life, I'm bound to run into a couple hundred Mormons ;) I love it though! I have had the honor to meet some of the most wonderful people, who without knowing it are some of my greatest role models. My parents being one of them. I have 10 other siblings. 2 of them are my sisters who have passed away. I didn't know them very well but my family speaks very highly of them. When they passed away I know it was hard on my parents and older siblings. They all could have chosen at any time to walk way from the church but they stayed with this gospel. It wasn't easy by any means and watching my parents and older siblings rely on the Lord time and time again has inspired me to never give up without a fight. I know it is through the atonement of Jesus Christ that we can find peace and comfort in this life, even with our challenges. Christ is the one who truly and literally save my life. Learning his attributes is what I strive for. To be like Him and to know Him. To love and serve as Christ did. He'll forever be by my side helping and walking with me every step of the way. I know that because of the knowledge of the Book of Mormon we learn of the atonement. I know that because of the atonement we can change. We can become complete, whole and happier than ever before. I couldn't be happier knowing anything else!

How I live my faith

I love going with different singing groups to nursing homes. My callings include being on a service committee with the young women. Basically I try to help and see if anyone in my neighborhood needs any help. I have helped to organize programs for my church weakly up in college and I lead the music. I live by doing what Christ would have done. I know it's kind of a cliche question to ask yourself but seriously ask yourself, "What would Christ do?" "What would Heavenly Father and Christ have me do?" You'll never go wrong when you rely on the counsel of God.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Shannon Hunter
Families are the main reason we are here. In our families we rely on each other to learn and grow throughout this earthly experience. Family can be our most valuable alibi in our challenges. In our families we learn to serve, love and have the experience that God wants us to have. We can't control the circumstances of our birth but we can choose to make our families happier and stronger.
