Hi I'm Dakota

I'm a lover of cooking, traveling, and being random. I'm a missionary in the Canada Edmonton Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest and I technically have two families. I live with my mom and three younger sisters (from a different father) but I also have a dad and step-mom who have two children, so I also have a brother and another sister. I was born and raised in Idaho, but my mom and I have also lived in Finland and Greece. My mom played basketball in college and in Europe so I always tell people I grew up on a basketball court. While I didn't inherit any amazing basketball skills, I do love to play volleyball. I'm a psychology major and eventually I want to get a Master's degree in school psychology. I love to cook! I love trying to make new things and making up my own recipes. My ideal life would be to be a school psychologist, get married and have a family, and then open my own cafe. I love people and I love to serve them.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because this is the only church that teaches you how to be happy forever. This gospel gives me more joy and peace than anything I've felt before. I was baptized when I was eight but was inactive until I was about thirteen; which was a time period in my life when I began to realize the peace and comfort the gospel can bring. I began to thirst after the knowledge of the gospel and I came to realize the love of my Heavenly Father. I grew up in a difficult family situation and often times I felt I had no one to turn to. Heavenly Father became the one I turned to. Through praying to Him I received comfort that everything would be okay and I began to feel a hope that I hadn't felt before. I know that prayer works; that God hears every spoken or unspoken pray or desire or worry we have. And He will answer them. Nothing makes more sense to me than this gospel. I know that I don't know everything but I have the faith to endure. Faith isn't knowing what the future holds, but who holds the future. Heavenly Father holds the future and the plan for each of us. I know with my whole being that when we do what He asks and we give Him our whole being, we can find and have eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always trying to be a missionary. Setting a good example to my little sisters has always been my motivation for living in a way that is different from the world and in harmony with Christ's teachings. Now being a missionary is how I have the opportunity live my faith literally EVERY DAY. And I love every minute of it! I love teaching and testifying that Jesus is the Christ and that He is at the head of this church. It is a special calling to put on a name tag and be a representative of the Savior.
