Hi I'm Janell England

I grew up in Northern California. I enjoy reading, play piano, hiking, and geneology. I love nature. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My parents divorced when I was young leaving my mother raising four small children by herself which is why family is one of the most important things to me. I am college student majoring Psychology. I want to work in a retirement home for older adults. Serving and helping others is one of my main motivations in life. I enjoy traveling and meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds. I have had the opportunity to travel the USA, France, and part of Mexico. I also enjoy being in nature and doing activities such as camping and hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the LDS church all my life, but I could have walked away at anytime. When my parents divorced my father tried to stop my siblings and I from going to church. It worked for a while, until I was 11 years old and felt that I was missing something from my life. As I went back to church I noticed that the hole which was in my heart was closing. I prayed to God to know if being a member was the right thing to be and if Joseph Smith restore the fullness of the gospel to the earth. The answer didn't come immediately but it did come. Not only was this the place I needed to be but Joseph did in fact restore God's church to the earth in this dispensation. Once I got this confirmation I couldn't turn my back on it. I know God lives, Jesus is the Christ who died and was resurrected so that we too have the opportunity to live with God again. I know that prophets are on the earth today and they lead and guide us like those of old. If we follow God's commands we will be blessed beyond measure. I know that families can be together forever. Which is why when my great grandmother died although I was sad, I knew I would see her again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving those around me in both church and community. I have participated in serveral service projects such as, making craft tables for a nonprofit girls organization, put new coats of paint on park equipment and fire hydrents, made scarves and blankets for homeless shelters, and also gone to rest homes to sing for those living there. Although sometimes it can be difficult, I try not judge those around me. Instead I try to love them for who they are and who they can be.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Janell England
No, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints doesn't endorse political parties. They do however want us to be involved with local governments. We are told as citizens we have the obligation to try to select men and women who have high ethical and moral standards. We are taught to follow to abide by the laws given by government officials, which is why we are encouraged to participate in elections. It is up to ourselves on whom we think will honor our trust and the laws of the country as well Show more Show less
