Hi I'm Kate Lyn Whitaker

I am a wife, Young Women advisor, and a Mormon. :)

About Me

I am 22 years old living in Utah. I am a newlywed and love the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints solely because of my testimony of the Book of Mormon. Through this book, I have learned for myself of God's love for all people, that the church of Jesus Christ has been restored upon the earth, and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. There is nothing in the Book of Mormon that does not invite and persuade men to be reconciled to God. All things put forth in the Book of Mormon by the hand of ancient prophets testify that there is a God, that we have a purpose on this earth, that Jesus is the Christ and the redeemer of all mankind, and that through our obedience to the principles and ordinances of the Gospel we can be saved. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints cultivates my faith in the above statements, teaches me more about the gospel, and gives me guidance concerning how to live my life in these the latter-days. If you have not yet read the Book of Mormon, I urge you to do so. If you do so with real intent and with a desire to know of the things of God, the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the power by which it was brought forth will be manifested unto you. Attend one of our church meetings. Just try it. You will find no greater happiness than is found in the path spoken of by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have found for myself that living after the manner of happiness is living after the manner of God. If obeying His commandments and walking His path makes me happy, how happy is our God! (: He is perfect and exact and all things that are good come from Him. If I, being imperfect, can feel a great deal of joy and happiness from striving to keep His commandments, think of God, being perfect, and how happy He must be! And we have the great gift and privilege, through Jesus Christ, to become like Him. As said Lorenzo Snow: "As man now is, God once was; as God is now man may be.” What a glorious promise. I strive every single day to put my trust in God and to obey His commandments. Through prayer, scripture study, service to my fellow men, and strict obedience, I feel a closer connection to my Heavenly Father and to my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Kate Lyn Whitaker
The Book of Mormon is a compilation of prophecies, experiences, and testimonies written by ancient American prophets under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Thus, it was written by men under the direction of God. The Book of Mormon was translated by Joseph Smith under the direction of God; it is evidence of God's love for us and remembrance of the covenants He made concerning the children of Israel in the last days.
