Hi I'm Sam Bateman

I grew up in Michigan and Utah. I am a wrestling captain. I am about to serve a mission in Puerto Rico. I am a mormon.

About Me

I am a High School Varsity Wrestling Captain. I love to wrestle and am not to bad at it. I also love to fish, hunt, dirt-bike and camp. I have a long history of playing baseball and love it. I am about to serve a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Juan Puerto Rico. I leave June 6, 2013. I am planning on going to college at Utah State University and major in engineering. I love to build things and try my best not to hurt myself.

Why I am a Mormon

I always came to church with my parents because they were Mormons but eventually everyone is put to the test. Everyone needs a spiritual experience to witness to them that God loves them and the scriptures are true. The holy ghost testifies in many different ways and we need to open our eyes to see that. I put the church to the test when I was 14 or so. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it and asked if it was true. I had a burning desire of love and knew that the book and the church was true. As I continue to try my best to serve the lord the holy ghost continues to testify to me that this church is true.

How I live my faith

I work as hard as I can to serve others. God loves his children and wants us to lift each other up and help each other. I work hard to be Heavenly Father's servant. I love to teach and I am looking forward to give the people of Puerto Rico a chance to learn the truth about God's plan and tell everyone how much he loves us.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Sam Bateman
God sent us here on earth to not only be tested but to gain a body. Do you think God wanted us to come here and abuse our bodies? God made our bodies to work so well and perfectly. Why would you smoke and destroy your throat and lungs? We also have a spirit. The spirit and the body combine and work together. If we damage the body, we damage the spirit. Our body is a temple and we want it to work best for our spirits. Would someone want to walk into a temple or a really neat, spiritual building if it was damaged and bad stuff was put all over it? Not very likely. Show more Show less
