Hi I'm Joey

I play several instruments, I surf, I've accepted the fact that i'm part of the food chain, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love surfing, and surfing loves me... unfortunately, the reef doesn't. After snapping my second longboard in half, I forever swore off longboarding and started taking out a 5'6"; for those of you on the fence, short boards are the way to go. Almost everyone who knows that I surf has asked me at one point or another if I'm scared of being eaten by a shark. Honestly, I think its more dangerous to drive down the street, where all that is keeping you alive is a line painted on the road and a mutual desire to live... (by the way, I don't think it's dangerous to drive down the road...just making a point)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because being such makes me happy... it puts gozo in mi alma, comprende? When I am truly living the gospel... its like every day has a code orange 7-10 surf report. Ok maybe thats a bad analogy, life is still hard and Im not ridiculously happy all the the time, but the way I face those hard times is different. But all that aside, I am a Mormon because of the peace that I feel when I read the Book of Mormon. I know that it is true, and if that book is true, than the rest is true as well.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by abstaining from drugs, tobacco, alcohol, and other harmful substances. I live my faith by giving service, for instance, whenever I see someone on the side of the road with a broken bike (which happens quite often in hawaii, land of the rust) I stop and help them out. When I'm surfing and someone drops in on me, there is no reason for me to lose my mind, instead I respectfully explain the rules to them and move on with my life. I believe that being offended is a choice.
