Hi I'm Lara

I'm a Mom. I've lived in Idaho, Washington, Alaska, and Iowa. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to cook and read. I love trying new recipes and new foods. My family doesn't always love everything I make, but its always an adventure. I'm an avid reader of all kinds of books. I currently have two sons and one daughter. My husband is a student and this has taken us from Idaho to Washington to Alaska and finally to Iowa. Being students has been hard but I have seen God guide our family and I always remind myself to enjoy the journey.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon, but I continue to live my faith because I know it is true. I have an ancestor who walked from Illinois to Utah with her family. I love reading her journal and get encouragement from her bravery and faith.

How I live my faith

I teach the teenagers in church. They teach me more than I teach them. I love studying the scriptures in preparation for my lessons. I love spending time with the women in our church. They help me constantly with the trials and joys of raising children. I feel like I have a family away from home at church who help me with all the things that come up in my life. It is wonderful to have people to depend on.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Tithing is a wonderful thing. It helps pay for chapels and temples. It also helps the Church with its day to day running. The leaders of our church are not paid. Everything is voluntary but we have a lot of programs that are paid for by tithing. I went to BYU-Idaho for my Bachelor's Degree and I felt very blessed for the tithing that went to help make my education affordable and wonderful. Show more Show less
