Hi I'm Eric Hatfield

I am serving in the Iowa Des Moines mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a laid-back, easygoing person who will get along with anybody. I enjoy working hard, and have always had a job of some sort. Ever since February of last year, I have been working at a cabinet shop, where I have had the opportunity to learn the cabinet making process from start to finish. After high-school graduation, I went to a semester of college at Southern Utah University. I am an Eagle Scout. Scouting has always been a big part of my teenage years, and I have enjoyed the opportunities and experiences that I have had because of it. I am a person with many hobbies. I enjoy doing almost anything that is involved with the outdoors. I particularly enjoy backpacking, fishing, hunting, and mountain biking. My dad, brother, and I have had some memorable adventures that have been in the outdoors. I have also had the opportunity to play in a rock band since I was a freshman in high school. I play the violin and the guitar. In high school, I wrestled from my freshman to my senior year. This taught me how hard work and dedication will pay off in the end. I have learned that I can endure more than what I think I can when things get tough.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have personally read the Book of Mormon, prayed about the truthfulness of it, and I have felt the sure, undeniable feeling that it is a true book. I have had my own witness that this church is Christ's restored church on the earth today, and that knowledge will never leave me. Being a Mormon has formed the backbone of my life. It has shaped me to be the person that I am today. It has brought me so much happiness, joy, peace, and guidance. I know that with Christ as my guide, I will be able to overcome any trial that may come into my life. It is truly an amazing feeling. Being a Mormon has not always been easy though. In fact, it is often very hard at times. There have been many instances where I am tempted to do the wrong thing, so I can fit in and look better in the worlds eyes. It's not easy to stand out, but it is worth it. I feel that overcoming these temptations has brought many blessings into my life, and I am often reassured that I am doing the right thing because I am happy. I am also a member of this church because of the message of hope that it brings. No matter how bad I mess up, there is always hope. There is always a path that I can take in order to repent and come clean with the mistakes that I make. That to me, is the central message that the church conveys. Through Christ's atonement there is always hope for everybody. And that is the message that I am sharing as I embark on my mission to Iowa. That is why I am a Mormon

How I live my faith

My church has always been a big part of my life. I have always been active and involved in it. I have grown up in the church and I have good parents that have always been strong in the gospel. They have strived to teach me to always make the right choices. I have held many callings and leadership opportunities. I have had the privilege of being a leader over groups of boys my own age throughout much of my teenage years. I enjoyed these callings and I believe that they have taught me many valuable lessons and leadership skills. Currently, I am serving in the Iowa Des Moines mission.
