Hi I'm Melissa

I grew up in South Carolina. I joined the church when I was 19. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the South. Our family was Methodist, but we were searching for the right church ever since I was 10. My parents divorced when I was 8. I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 15, and I knew I had to be a part of that church someday. I applied to college at BYU, got accepted, and went there, where I joined the church. I am majoring in Wildlife and Wildlands Conservation. I love running, hiking, painting, playing clarinet, sculpting clay, and anything else creative or active.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I saw something different in the people of this church. I was invited to Girl's Camp by one of my friends not knowing what it was, of course. When I got there, the people were so happy; they had a light about them and a gleam in their eye that you just don't see too much anymore. I knew then that this was the church I had to be in. My family was against me joining, so I applied to Brigham Young University for college because it is funded for and supported by this church. I knew that I wouldn't have to deal with drunk roommates or anything of that nature. While here, I was baptized into the church. It has been the best decision of my life. I wouldn't take it back for anything in the world. I have grown closer to God and Christ, feel their love for me in my prayers, and everything just makes sense. All of the questions that I had growing up trying to find the right church have been answered. It's really amazing, and I really am so grateful to have found the true Church of Jesus Christ in this day. I love it with all of my heart.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be an example of Christ for those around me. I read the scriptures that the Lord has given us, pray, go to church, and am serving a year-and-a-half mission for my church.
