Hi I'm Shane

I am a Former Professional Waterski Stunt performer, Husband, Father of Five kids and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as a Mormon. My parents divorced when I was 8 at which time My Mom moved with all the kids to Utah where I finished grade school. School was a huge struggle for me. I had lots of energy and had a passion more than anything to be a stuntman when I grew up and school was just in the way. After graduating, I served a mission in Tacoma Wa. When my service was complete I moved to live with my Dad in the Sacramento Ca. area where I met my wife to be in church the first week I was home. I asked her out that week, never dated anyone else, got engaged 4 months later and married 6 months after that. I started a couple businesses while my wife gave birth to 3 of our children. When I was 32 I sold my business and persuid my dream of becoming a stuntman. I didn't know or maybe didn't care that most people in the stunt performing business retire by the time they are 32 and I was just looking to start. I got a job in the Waterski Stunt Show at Six Flags as a stunt boat driver and worked there for 6 yrs while building a new business as well. During this time my wife gave birth to our fourth child Megan who was born with Downsydrome. We thought she would be our last, knowing that Megan was going to need a lot of our attention and time, but child number 5 came 2yrs after later. I love being married! I love being a father to babies and teenagers but really struggle with that 4-12 age.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born and raised in the church I still had to establish my own belief of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While I can not recall any one experience that rooted my belief I have always known that there is a Heavenly Father that loves us and sent us here for a purpose. I compare my belief to blade of grass. While grass is always growing we don't notice the day to day growth but we do notice after a week goes by that the grass has grown. So my belief has come from a number of small experiences in my life while I was young and I have continued to build my upon my belief off those experiences throughout my life. The gospel of Jesus Christ has given me a compass to live by so that I can enjoy life and not be like a ship in the ocean without a sail that is just drifting with the waves with know direction or purpose. The gospel gives me direction and purpose. I know where I came from, why I am here on earth, and what will happen to me and those close to me when we die.

How I live my faith

I have had many oppurtunities to serve in the Lords church. Most of the time I have served with the Young Men ages 12-18 in Scouts and various other youth group events as well as teaching Sunday classes and for 3yrs taught a youth class at 6am Monday-Friday for Seniors in our church called Seminary. I love to teach youth the Gospel and to show them that being Christian isn't restrictive but gives our life freedom and happiness. That living the Gospel will open doors to lifes dreams. Because of my years as a stunt performer I have made many friends that are not Mormons and my wife and I have had many missionary experiences with them as we have gone to their weddings, childrens birthdays and other events and show that we are their friends even though our faith may be different than theirs. As a family we strive to follow the counsel of our church leaders who act as Gods mouth piece on earth, We read the scriptures (Bible and Book of Mormon) regulary, We have family prayer together, we teach our boys to prepare to serve missions when they graduate from High school, and do our best as we know how to raise our children to love the Savior, to be good students in school, to be good examples and stand up for those that can not stand up for themselves and to serve in the community. My wife and I try our best to show our kids how to do these things and not just lectur them about it. we are not perfect and we are students of being parents as much as our kids are students of being children and will makes mistakes but we really want to become better.
