Hi I'm Michelle

I'm a college student who loves to travel, have dance parties, and cook. I'm a swimmer, sister, friend, and Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student living in Utah and loving every minute of it! I served a mission in Montreal Canada speaking French. I have such a passion for French and traveling. I love meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. This passion has influenced my decision to major in Economics and French and, even though I haven't quite decided what to do with that yet, I am excited to see where it takes me!

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ brings me more happiness than any thing else in my life. The principles, teachings, and doctrine give me purpose and direction. I cannot imagine having to walk through life constantly wondering what I am supposed to be doing, who I should become, and where I am going. The church answers all of these questions for me! I have grown up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but I have been able to gain my own testimony of its truthfulness. I know that this is Heavenly Father's church on the earth today. I have a testimony of the prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and his calling as the Lord's voice. Most importantly, I know that the Book of Mormon is true. It was written for our day and age and truly testifies of Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to fulfill my church callings and relying on the gospel in every aspect of my life. At school, I serve as part of the Relief Society Communications Committee. Basically that means that I am in charge of letting everyone at church know what is going on, when events are happening, and always remind members of things. Each day I try to look for ways that I can serve other people and do whatever God wants me to do. I strive to have the principles of the gospel influence my life every single day, not just on Sunday and I can testify that it has made me a better, more Christ-like person.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

All Mormons are not required to serve missions. For young men, it is strongly encouraged as a privilege to show their love for others and the Lord by sharing the gospel. For young women, it is an option available as well. Serving a mission is a very personal decision that should be made between the individual and the Lord. With help from loving Bishops, parents, and church leaders, thousands of youth all over the world are choosing to serve missions and the work of the church is ever increasing! Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Most of the missionaries of the church are fully funding their missions at their, and their family's, own expense. The 18 months to 2 years of service is something that the youth must prepare for and save money in order to go. The church will never turn away a worthy and faithful youth who is desiring to serve a mission because they cannot pay. The ward and community often come together to help families pay. Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

The light of Christ and a testimony of His gospel sparks a strong desire to share this happiness with others. As followers of Jesus Christ, members of His church are enthusiastic about proclaiming the good news of His restored gospel to all who are willing to listen. Missionaries serve in pairs so that by the mouth of two witnesses, the word may be established. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost is a member of the Godhead and has the same purpose as God and Jesus Christ but they are all separate beings. His purpose is testify of the Father and the Son, to reveal truth, and to comfort us. God uses the Holy Ghost to speak to us. Any time we feel joy, peace, clarity, or happiness it is the Holy Ghost that is with us. He can also warn us of dangerous situations. Anyone can feel the Holy Ghost when they are doing what is right and it is the best feeling ever. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

I have been able to strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father the most through scripture study and prayer. When I pray I can feel that I am not just talking to myself but that I actually have a Father in heaven who is listening to me and cares about my life. When I read the scriptures I feel like God answers me back. He inspired those people long ago to write about things that can directly relate to my life and when I have faith, He guides my study and helps me find answers to my questions. I am so grateful for my relationship with God! Show more Show less
