Hi I'm Christina

I was born and raised in the AWESOME state of Iowa, and I'm a Mormon. :)

About Me

I love to play basketball and other sports. I'm a recent college graduate from the University of Northern Iowa (Go Panthers! YEAH!), and I'm now a public educator. I also like to fiddle around on the piano and compose music. I'm no professional by any means, but I feel like music is one way that I can communicate my thoughts and feelings.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know that the Book of Mormon is true. It's that simple. :) But how did I come to know that the Book of Mormon is a true and accurate book of scripture? My parents raised me in the Church, and taught me through word and deed Christ's doctrine. They taught me right from wrong and how to be eternally happy. When I was in high school, I felt like I believed that everything that I had been taught was true, but I felt like I couldn't say I KNOW with 100% conviction. I believed, but I didn't know. So, I decided to re-read the Book of Mormon with the INTENT of gaining a testimony. I wasn't reading to get to know the stories, to make my Sunday school teachers happy, etc. No, I was reading to KNOW. That was the key for me. I finished reading the book, and then I prayed, asking Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ if the Book of Mormon was true and if this church was His true church. God responded to my prayer through quiet thoughts and a feeling of peace that it all was true. Since then, I've many other experiences that have confirmed to me that this church is true. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. He provided us with a perfect example. I know that if we follow Him, we can return to live with Him in eternal joy. Through Christ and obedience to God, we can live with God and our families for eternity.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? Good question... Well faith isn't something you just believe; belief leads to action, and action leads to change. It's my goal to change and to become like Jesus Christ by striving to live by His teachings. So, in terms of this, I think what it really comes down to is setting daily goals to do something a little better and then striving to reach those goals. It's a day by day process of conversion towards Jesus Christ. Plus, having callings in the Church of Jesus Christ really helps out in terms of trying to develop Christlike attributes. Right now I have the "calling", in other words inspired responsibility from God, to help the young single adults in my area to stay strong in the faith. I also visit 4 other adult sisters in the congregation to make sure that their spiritual and physical needs are met. And sometimes at church I get the opportunity to help interpret for the Spanish-speaking people who come to church. Having these responsibilities helps me to develop more Christlike attributes (like faith, charity, etc), and helps me to become more like our Savior. That's what it's all about: becoming like Christ.
