Hi I'm Emily

I'm a passionate learner. I love the arts, movement and the outdoors. I'm a wife, a mother and a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a wonderful home with loving parents. They encouraged and supported me in developing my talents. Through the years, I've given most of my time and energy to music, but my interests expand far beyond what I've had time to actively explore. I studied and loved biology in college until I met my husband and transferred to a new university, where I finished a degree in Human Development a few weeks before our first child was born. I have a deep love for truth and beauty in all its forms of expression. I love music, reading, singing, hiking, running, yoga, cooking, camping and most of all, spending time with my family. I'm married to an amazing man who is wonderful to me. Together we have two children. They are the joys of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have studied and prayed about the Book of Mormon and the Doctrines it contains and I know they are true. I have done my best to live by the principles taught and constantly many blessings they bring into my life. I have felt the Spirit of God confirm to my heart that the Savior, Jesus Christ, leads this church and reveals His living word and will to the prophet. I am so grateful to have His light and grace in my life!

How I live my faith

I currently assist the President of our local women's church organization, called the Relief Society. I help to coordinate activities that bring women in our neighborhood together. The activities are focused on things that strengthen their homes, families, faith, skills, and personal lives. I also go with the President to visit the sisters who live around us. Each week we try to visit with those who may be new to the area, having babies, sick, troubled, or going through major transitions. We often bring meals or try to help in any way we can. Sometimes we just go to connect with them and see how they are doing. I also go on visits each month with a friend to see three women we've been asked to get to know and help take care of. We usually chat and find out how they are doing and whether there are any needs they or their family have. We try to be their friends and help them whenever we see an opportunity. We also try to share uplifting messages when we visit. I love getting to know and love the women all around me! In addition, I often play the piano, accompany others, or sing in church. I also prepare and lead a discussion with the sisters in our Sunday meetings once a month.

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society was organized to unite women and increase their capacity to serve others and each other. It's motto is "charity never faileth". It's purposes are to increase faith and personal righteousness, strengthen homes and families and help those in need. Every woman in the church who is 18 or older is included. Show more Show less
