Hi I'm Lauren

I'm kind of a hippie, I love the simple things, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

So I've lived in several parts of the country but grew up mostly in Nevada and South Carolina. Desert and the beach--love 'em both! I guess you could say I'm a small-town girl, I love anything that has to do with being outside, interacting with animals, and overall enjoying God's incredible creations. One of my favorite things about life is variety! In people, personalities, places, foods, opinions, styles... differences are beautiful and totally worth appreciating. My family is amazing! We're not always able to be all together, specifically because of my parents' divorce when we were young, but the love and tightness never ceases, and I believe that there is a reason for everything. I'm actually a recently returned missionary. I spent the past 18 months in Portugal sharing what brings me the most happiness, the gospel. It changed my life and transformed my relationship with Jesus Christ. Basically this life is about loving the Lord and those around us, so that's what I strive every day to do.

Why I am a Mormon

Honestly, because it makes me happy! It makes me happy to know that God knows and loves me for who I am, to know that He has a plan for me and that because of Jesus Christ I can one day return to God. I know that the only way to make it back to God is through following Christ, and the only way we can fully do that is through the priesthood (power of God) that was restored to the earth through a living prophet. I know that promises made with God through that power are valid. And I know that that power only exists in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Some day soonish I'll be starting my own family, marriage, kids and such... and because of that restored power, I know that the family I'll have can be together for eternity. That's really what's most important for me, my family relationships. So I know that if I'm sealed by the power of the priesthood to my future awesome husband and our kids, our relationships can last beyond death. I'm nowhere near perfect, I have so many weaknesses and faults, but because of our Savior's sacrifice I can get better every day, I can change and progress. And that is so amazing to me. My fullest potential is only possible through Him, and living according to His teachings gets me closer to that potential every day.

How I live my faith

I believe that faith is definitely something that requires action. Living my faith, for me, means trying my best every day to DO the Lord's will. Praying and talking every day with God, being honest with Him. Looking around for opportunities to serve and do good for others. Doing everything I can to follow His counsel in every aspect of my life, and going straight to Him when I've stumbled and need to be picked back up again.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Every time I step outside I feel privileged to live on this earth. Being in nature brings peace to my soul. I love to hike and seeing the gorgeous landscapes, hundreds of trees, plants, animals. The smells, the textures, the sun's warmth on my skin, the breeze brushing my cheeks. All of these things are witnesses of God for me. He created this amazing planet which is so complex, so intricate, so unbelievably alive, in my mind all of these things leave no question that there is a God and He loves us so much that he would design such an incredible place as this earth for us to experience life in. I love to watch the sun set, and occasionally rise (when I'm up that early), the colors and patterns, shapes of the clouds, and shadows cast all paint a unique picture. It's different every day. Every day God gives us something new to enjoy. His hand created all things. There is no doubt. Show more Show less
