Hi I'm Sharissa Alder

Born and raised in Hermiston, Oregon. I love art! I'm currently serving a mission in the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission!

About Me

Like I said I enjoy art..mostly the fine arts (photography, graphic design, etc). I am the youngest of four children so naturally I love hanging out with them and my parents, playing sports for the thrill of it, and coming up with crazy random things to do, coming from a small town with not much to do. I worked at an industrial hose and supply store for a while and attended Brigham Young University- Idaho for a semester. Now I am serving as a missionary for our church in the Milwaukee Wisconsin Mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know Christ lived and died for each of us personally. When on the earth, He organized His church, the Church of Jesus Christ with the priesthood (which is the power of God given to man and the authority to use it). When all the apostles were killed, that priesthood was lost. But in 1820, a boy of 14 had the desire to find which church was true. He went into a grove of trees and prayed to know the answer. Surprisingly, two personages appeared to him, God the Father (Heavenly Father) and God the Son (Jesus Christ). He was told that none of the churches were true. He was chosen to restore the Church that existed during Christ's time. He was given gold plates to translate and publish. These plates are now known as the Book of Mormon. It records the history of the descendants of Lehi, Muklek, and Jared, all people who escaped from the Old world during times of wickedness. I know that all of these thing are true because I have read the Book of Mormon and have prayed to know if it is true. IT IS!!! And if it is true, everything else is true. I know that families can be together forever and that we are all sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father and can inherit His kingdoms if we keep our promises we make to him (keeping the commandments). This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Well right now, every day of my life is devoted to Christ and building up His Church. I get up at 6:30 every morning to prepare to serve the people around me and help them come closer to Christ. I knock on doors, talk to people on the street or in the parks even though it's super awkward. I talk to everyone hoping that each will listen to the amazing message we have to share: that Christ's Church has been restored to the earth! I go around looking for opportunies to serve and help, living the commandment to love God and our neighbors. I work hard to build the faith and hope of those around me as well as in myself. I am a servant for the Lord, a follower of Jesus Christ, a true disciple.
