Hi I'm Amber

I'm from Utah. I love to run, coach lacrosse, and play soccer. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a big sister to six younger siblings that I love very much. My family is extremely important to me. I coach JV high school lacrosse, and I love being with my girls. I teach a class of adorable and rambunctious four-year-olds at church. I ran cross country in high school and the love I gained for running will last my whole life. I love soccer and snowboarding. I'm a full-time student, and my current interest is nutrition. I am excited to soon share the gospel as a full-time missionary with the people in the beautiful land of the Philippines in their own language! I have had struggles in my life, but I have been greatly blessed by the merciful hand of my Heavenly Father. I love Him, my Savior Jesus Christ, and His gospel more than anything in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always grown up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but my faith and my testimony are my own. They are not my parents', nor my leaders', nor anyone else's. I have learned for myself that this is the true church of Jesus Christ, restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. For a long time in my life, going to church was routine, but I enjoyed it. However, upon entering ninth grade, the gospel took a whole new meaning in my life. I began to read my scriptures each day, something that before I had only done periodically. Consistently reading the Book of Mormon as well as the New Testament that year and attending my seminary classes strengthened my relationships with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. My trust in Them increased; my love for Them grew; my desire to do what I knew They wanted me to do ignited. My life was touched by the love I feel from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They hear me. They answer my prayers--every time. They guide me. They comfort me. They strengthen me. They bless me. I know that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father, and that He loves me. And I know that, no matter who you are, He loves you, too. You. Personally. He knows you and cares about you. He will hear your pleas. He will hear your prayers. The only true peace available on this earth is found in the mercy and love and teachings of Jesus Christ and the fulness of His gospel. I have peace knowing my family is sealed together for eternity. I have peace in knowing He has a plan for my life. I have peace knowing there is a life beyond this, that death has no sting, that exaltation and a fulness of joy is possible for each and every one of us. And isn't peace something all of us seek after? "Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God." Doctrine and Covenants 18:10

How I live my faith

I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ very much. I have a strong desire to follow the example of Jesus Christ and the commandments of God in all I do in my life. I try every day to do a little better. That might sound cliche, but it's true. I try to live a virtuous, wholesome, service-oriented life. While many may think that living a life by the standards that I do--including dressing modestly; avoiding drugs, alcohol, coffee, tea; abstinence before marriage and fidelity after; not swearing--may lack "fun" or is "restrictive," my life has been filled with immense joy because in doing these things, I have far fewer problems and far more blessings. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not restrictive. It is liberating on all fronts. I live my faith by trying to serve the people around me. I also teach four-year-olds at church. I have also chosen to serve a full-time mission for 18 months, completely leaving behind my university studies, my social life, and 'normal life' because my desire to share the gospel is so strong. I want everyone to be able to experience the joy and true peace that comes from the gospel, as I have in my life. I can't wait to get to the Philippines!
