Hi I'm Katherine

I am a student, a teacher, a musician, food lover, and avid reader! I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I am finishing my super senior year at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I am studying physics and math education, something I thought I would never do! I am currently student teaching and taking the challenge to teach high schoolers how to love physics and be better individuals. I love learning and going to school; there are so many wonderful things to learn about. I am a teaching assistant at BYU and love my job. I studied abroad two summers ago in London with BYU and it changed my life! I love playing the piano and teaching piano more than almost anything else. Singing by myself, singing with my mom, and singing in choir has always been one of my favorite things. I love all things food! I enjoy Indian, Thai, Korean, Japanese, and Italian food. I am married to the most wonderful person I have ever met! He is my best friend and my favorite person to be with. He's working hard now to finish school and get into graduate school. We love to try new food together, play board games, watch old movies, and talk about everything together. I am the oldest of five children and have the craziest, most fun siblings and the best parents ever. They are the people I love to be with most. I grew up all over the west and have loved all of the friends I have made in every place.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this church brings me the greatest peace. I know that I can be with my family forever, and that the relationships I care about most I will still have even when loved ones pass away. I have had my prayers answered many times. I have felt guidance when making big decisions, and I have felt loneliness disappear and comfort when I most need it because of prayer. I am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is true. The stories in it of individuals and families inspire me help me be a better person. They teach of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy! I find strength in keeping the commandments. The church gives me an opportunity to better myself and improve. It makes my family happier and closer together. It helps my husband and I grow closer together and feel more love toward each other. I am a Mormon because I know that this is the church that Jesus Christ established when he was on earth. I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ. I always know that I am not alone when I am suffering. I know that I can change when I am at my worst. It gives me hope and helps me carry on when life is hard.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to become more like Jesus Christ. By being friends with others, serving them and being there for them when it matters most is something I am striving to do. I study the Book of Mormon and the Bible everyday on my own and with my husband. It inspires me to be better and helps me remember what is important. I have had many opportunities to volunteer my time in my local congregation (ward). Currently, I help with the music in Primary, which is an hour where the children meet to be taught about Jesus Christ. We help them learn songs about serving others and being kind, obeying the commandments, reading the scriptures, and following Jesus Christ. It has been a wonderful experience.
