Hi I'm Dave Fokken

I grew up in Nebraska "Go Huskers!". Live in So Cal, 45 minutes from the Ocean, Mountains & Disneyland - I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am just a regular guy. Wake up when it is dark, put in an honest days work and come home to the reason why I do what I do and am who I am. My family rocks my world. Everything I do is for them. A beautiful wife(married for 23 years and counting) and three great children who are by far better individuals that I was at their age. My hobbies are teasing my girls and watching my son play sports. Each one of them have their special talents and the worlds is theirs if they work hard and keep the faith. Don't tell anyone but I actually like to play video games with my son. Every once in a while I will actually win a game.

Why I am a Mormon

As I grew up in a single parent home(my mom is an incredible woman), I was a kid with a lot of rough edges. Hung out with the wrong crowd...you know the story. I ended up meeting a few "Mormon" kids in Middle school and was invited to hang out with them a few times. I started to see what it felt like to have real friends. These kids where different. When I went into their homes it was different. When I was 16 years old I really started to feel a desire to be a better person like my Mormon friends. Plus, I saw how happy my Mormon friends were and I wanted that! To make a long story short, I joined the Mormon church and when I turned 19 I decided to go on a 2 year mission. Not because some of my friends were going but because I new it was the right thing to do. While serving the Lord, my testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints started to grow and has never stopped. I am a "Bottom Line" type of person and the bottom line reason why I am a Mormon is because I experience the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life everyday. I know that God lives and he loves me and my family. I know that as I try to do my best to follow his teachings, he will bless me and my family. I am afraid to think of where I would today be without the church in my life.

How I live my faith

Every once in a while I will find a good quote or motto and tape it on my kids bedroom doors. They think I am crazy but my hope is that some of it sticks on them. One of those quotes was, "What is the definition of Character?" Answers: How you act when you think no one is looking. I try my best not to be fake. Not to talk behind someones back. To simply treat others they way I would want to be treated. Hoping that when I am not around, other say, "Dave, ya he is a good guy. Seems to always be willing to help out."
