Hi I'm Matt

I grew up in Sacramento California, I play ultimate frisbee, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending college to become a mechanical engineer, because I am good at math and science, and I want to have the opportunity to make something that will bless people's lives. I love sports, especially ultimate frisbee, which I play at a collegiate level. I also love music, I have played piano for 5 years, and I played trumpet for 5 before that. I have participated in scouts my entire life and have achieved the rank of an eagle scout. I have a loving family of 5 older brothers, 3 of which are married. My mom passed away at the beginning of my Junior year of high school from cancer, and I have grown up to be much more mature because of that. I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

My older brothers and I have been raised in the church, and looking up to them, I have seen the wonderful traits, virtues, and morals the church, and our family, has instilled in them. I look up to them and my parents and can see how the Gospel blesses our lives with happiness and with these good characteristics. I know that these traits I see in them, such as their kindness and happiness, are things that I want to see in my own life, and I can have by following the teachings of the Gospel. I have also had personal experience that these things are true, and that living the Gospel, being a member of this church, and following the commandments are exactly what I should be doing. The things this church teaches can only come from God, and by following the principles found in the church, we can be brought closer to Him. I know that I have had personal witnesses of its truth through the answering of my prayers, and I know that I can continue to communicate with God through prayer and can have His positive influence on my life continually.

How I live my faith

Throughout my life I have had leadership roles among my peers in our church and scouting activities. I would help organize activities and service projects that we would do, occasionally teach lessons in church, and encourage my friends to work hard in their church roles and also in scouting. I have participated in many service projects, especially when I was striving to get my eagle scout award I planned and organized a big service project. For the past several years I have been a home-teacher to a few families in the ward, where I would go monthly with my dad, or now my roommate, and deliver a short message to these families. That was also a source of some of our service opportunities when these families had particular needs that we could help with.
