Hi I'm Sam Pereyra

I am half Mexican, half Argentine. I am an aspiring marriage and family therapist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a big family. My siblings, cousins, and all my family are my best friends. They are the ones whom I love to hang out with the most. I am a college student going into marriage and family therapy. I love my own culture and love exploring other people's cultures as well. I taught myself how to play the guitar about 8 years ago and have been playing ever since. I play mostly classical/Spanish guitar, but I'm also learning the piano. Music, family, and culture are my passions and I love learning about each of them.

Why I am a Mormon

Having been raised in the church, I have always known about God and His Son, Jesus Christ. There came a point in my life as a young teenager, though, when I felt I had strayed from the commandments of the Lord. For some reason, I wasn't feeling that genuine peace and happiness that I must have been taking for granted. At that moment, I decided to pray to Heavenly Father and sincerely ask for forgiveness. I poured my heart out to Him asking for help. When I finished my prayer, I turned to something that I had neglected in my life. As soon as I had grabbed my Book of Mormon that was at my bedside, I felt this immense love come over me. It was the love of God that was changing my heart. I was coming to a personal spiritual knowledge that God, the Father was indeed real and that He loved me and heard my prayers; that the Book of Mormon was the word of God, and that Jesus Christ was truly the Son of God and that He suffered for my sins. The forgiveness I felt completely overcame me. Up until that point in my life, I had never felt such happiness and joy ever. I came away from that experience with something that has become an anchor in my life. It is my testimony of Jesus Christ. Independent of what my parents have taught me at home or what any person at church tells me over the pulpit, I have my own personal testimony by the power of the Holy Ghost that the gospel of Jesus Christ taught in this church is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is an additional witness of Christ that can bring us closer to Him. I know that it is only through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and our faith in Him that we can find forgiveness and happiness in this life and eternal life with our families hereafter. Whether the world knows it or not, Jesus is the living Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being kind and friendly to others, whether they are family, friends, or strangers at church, school, or work. At church, I teach lessons on the gospel of Jesus Christ from the scriptures. I also help organize teaching schedules for different teachers at church. I strive to remember the Lord in everything I do by praying and studying from the scriptures daily. I go to the temple to feel the Spirit of the Lord there and to learn more about Heavenly Father's will and love for me. As I constantly keep a prayer in my heart, I can feel the comfort of the Holy Ghost bring peace to my life, especially during difficult and trying times.
