Hi I'm Allison

I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. I've had many challenges and blessings in my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and mother. In addition to one son, I have seven cats. I love to read and learn, travel and do crafts. At age 55 I am taking college classes to become a Life Coach after owing an EmbroidMe franchise for five years.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all my life. However, during my teens and early twenties, I fell away from the church not finding my way back until I was almost thirty years old. Because I lived so many years without the Gospel in my life, I feel as though I treasure it even more now. The Gospel is not a set of rules to restrict our life and take away our happiness. It is our Father in Heaven's Plan of Happiness for each one of us. He truly loves all of his children, is in the details of our lives and wants us to be happy. In this world of constant challenges, the Gospel really helps me to make it through and continue on. I really do not know how anyone can get by without it being a part of their daily life. The Gospel answers all our questions: Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? Why do bad things happen to good people? Will I really see my family after I pass on from this life? The Church is patterned after the Church Jesus Christ established when He was here on the Earth. We have a living Prophet and twelve Apostles today just like in Christ's time. They help lead and guide us through these difficult times. The Gospel helps us to be better people and love and serve those around us.

How I live my faith

I look forward to going to church each Sunday. In addition to going to church every week, I also attend the Temple once a month with my husband. This is a special time for us to be together, strengthen our faith and just enjoy one another's company. Each person in our church has a "Calling" or job. My calling is being a Missionary and while I do not do this full time, I go out with our full time Missionaries to help teach those who are interested in our faith. I have met so many interesting and wonderful people and while not everyone we teach joins our church, I have absolutely loved serving in this capacity because I can share my beliefs and meet new people.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Allison
President Monson leads and guides our church today. Twice a year, on the first weekend of April and the first weekend of October, we hold what is called "General Conference". It is a time to hear President Monson and other leaders of our church speak to us and counsel us. I urge everyone to hear these people speak. They speak plainly for us to understand and their cousel is for us today; words that we can live by and words that can help us. You will know those who speak to us at General Conference speak the truth and are truly inspired by God.. Show more Show less
