Hi I'm Helen Almodovar

I was born and raised in Southern California. I am a Lifeguard and I am a Mormon

About Me

My name is Helen and I am 20 years old and have been apart of the church my whole life. I love playing sports, especially soccer and swimming and while I'm at home I love to crochet and read. I have worked at a Dairy Queen and I have worked as a Lifeguard as well. I was born and raised in Southern California and have lived in Southern Oregon. Now I am serving a mission for the church in Independence, MO, and have the opportunity to serve others each day.

Why I am a Mormon

Being born and raised in the gospel I was able to watch my mother go to church and strive to be a righteous woman. I knew she wasn't perfect but she had a testimony and I knew that what she believed in was good even while I was a young child. Her example helped me discover the gospel on my own when I was a teenager and helped me choose the right. Participating in the church always brought joy and happiness and I was able to build my own testimony through scripture study and prayer. My testimony is my foundation, it's what keeps me on the right path and keeps me going everyday to become a better person. I know that if I didn't have one I would be lost and longing for one even if I did not know what it was. I can say that I have a firm testimony that this church is Christs church restoared on the earth again. That Jesus is the Christ and that Heavenly Father sent his son down to earth so that we could have the atonement and live with Him someday. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet and was guided to find the plates and translated them to be the Book of Mormon that we have today. I know that The Book of Mormon is the word of god, written by past prophets from the Americas and that it contains stories of real peoples lives and great teachings that can inspire and give us dirrection in our own lives. I also have a testimony in the power of prayer, that if you ask with a sincere heart and real intent then God will answer. I know that Heavenly Father loves all his children, everyone of us. All of this knowledge I have gained and the decisions I have made leads me to being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Living is a daily thing and being able to be one of Christs diciples and following our Savior daily has been a blessing. I have come to learn more and more how I can help others and serve them and even how to use my talents to bless others- whether its teaching someone about the gospel or bringing people joy by giving them things that they enjoy. Also having respect and compassion for others, just as Christ had done with those he came in contact with, is something I am stricing to do each day. Currently I am serving a mission and I am excited to continue to do so, this commitment to take 18 months to serve has been the best decision I have ever made in my life.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Helen Almodovar
The Purpose of Life is a question many people ask themselves and strive to learn the answer. There is an answer and it is that our lives have a divine purpose. Heavenly Father loves each of his children and has a plan for us, a plan for us to grow and live with him someday. When we were first born on earth our spirits received a physical body and as we grow and mature we are able to exercise agency by choosing between right and wrong(good and evil). Our time here is filled with many experiences that can help us grow and become more like our Heavenly Father. Also as we live our days on earth we form relationships with our families and those relationships can be eternal. By really following the plan God created we can all have a greater peace in our lives knowing that we can live with Him and our families someday and have eternal joy. Show more Show less
