Hi I'm Sara Schatmeier

I'm 20 years old, serving a full time mission in Canada. I'm a little kid at heart. I love to smile. And I love being a Mormon!

About Me

I have an Associate of Arts degree, and am a senior at Brigham Young University Idaho. I am serving a full time mission in Edmonton Canada for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for the next 18 months. I dearly love to learn, and I work everyday to improve myself. I'm blessed with a wonderful family and friends who encourage and help me on the path to righteousness. I am a certified lifeguard and an avid swimmer. I love any kind of sport, especially the exhilarating feel after a hard workout. I love to do small acts of service for those around me, and everyday I make it a goal to help make someone's day a little bit brighter. I like to add sunshine to my life and the lives of others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Mormon church, but that is not why I'm a member now. I remain a faithful Latter Day Saint because I have prayed and recieved a testimony that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is only way to reach eternal exaltation. When I align my life with my Heavenly Father's will, my heart swells with His Spirit, and I gain a sense of fulfillment unlike any other. I feel the love of my Savior Jesus Christ everyday. He protects and guides me as I listen to the words of modern day prophets. Without my faith, I would be lost in every imaginable way. Instead, I know exactly where I'm supposed to go and how to get there. I can view my life with an eternal perspective.

How I live my faith

I play piano solos and accompany in my various church meetings. Before my mission, I volunteered quite a bit at local theatre companies doing backstage work, such as stage management, although I made the choice to not participate on any events on Sunday. I am a sincere believer in the fourth commandment. I dedicate the Sabbath day to my Heavenly Father, and try my best to keep His sacred day holy. I always try to maintain a positive attitude and find the little joys that make life so special. I am dedicating 18 months of full time service as a missionary. I look forward to learning how to better love and serve all those I come into contact with. Every individual is God's child. I try to see them through His eyes.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Sara Schatmeier
Not at all! The Church administers service to many people around the world who do not have any connection with Mormonism. Missionaries dedicate 1 1/2-2 years of their lives to serving members and nonmembers alike. The Book of Mormon states, "...when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God"(Mosiah 2:17). We take it upon ourselves to love and serve all those around us, regardless of their faith. Show more Show less
