Hi I'm Jayson

I'm a small town kind of guy. I enjoy the outdoors and being with friends. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I love bodybuilding. I make an effort to have a workout of some kind every day except Sundays. My brother-in-law introduced me to it in high school, and it's something I've loved to do since. I try to eat a clean diet. My favorite snack is a banana or an apple. During the summer, I like to go out in the morning to my garden and pick a fresh zucchini to cook with my eggs. I'm a pretty mellow guy. I enjoy listening to Indie folk, among many other genres, and will try to play along on my guitar. It's my favorite instrument! Right now I'm on a mission in Indiana. It's the best thing I've ever been involved in. It's an awesome feeling to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people who are looking for something to fill their spiritual hole.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in Utah I've always been surrounded by members of the church. I was born into a Mormon family. From the example of my parents and siblings I figured that this Gospel is true, but I didn't know for myself until I made the efforts to understand. In my teenage years I was challenged to read the Book of Mormon completely. One night when I finished it, I knelt down by my bed and prayed if Joseph Smith truly translated this book of scripture. Immediately I felt a strong warmth in my chest and a feeling of pure happiness. I knew then, just as I had always thought so, that the Book of Mormon was true.

How I live my faith

Well right now I am serving a full-time mission in Indiana. It's full-time in the sense that all I do, say, and think is to invite others to find the same joy that I find in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This religion has brought me a tremendous amount of comfort because it's help my know that God has a specific plan for me in this life. My dad wants me to be able to grow up and be like he is. He doesn't want to make every decision for me though. How effective would that be for a growing individual? But Dad would tell me stories about way back when he was a teenager or when he met Mom to encourage me to want my own experiences. I love listening about him and even more I love when I've got my own stories to tell him. This is similar to how Heavenly Father is for each of us. He wants each of us to be able to become as he is, but this is only through experiences on Earth. Since I'm out here trying to help others get closer to Jesus Christ, I too try daily to become closer to Him. One of my favorite ways to do this is through service. I keep a pair of leather gloves in my backpack just so if I see someone in need I am prepared. I've been blessed with two hands for working and that's what they're good at. After all, when you are in the service of your fellow men you're only in the service of God.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

The best and most reliable way to find out is to have the faith to ask our Heavenly Father through prayer. If you really want to know and believe that He'll give you an answer then He's going to let you know. The scriptures tell us that anyone who asks will receive. This is a true promise and I have found it to be true many times. Show more Show less
