Hi I'm Scott

I grew up in Idaho. I served a mission in Brazil. I am attending optometry school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am proud to be a father and husband. I love spending any free time I have rolling and playing with my son, or cuddling up to my wife. We love the outdoors, hiking, camping, and going to the park. I have also recently started mountain biking. I graduated from BYU-Idaho, and have begun optometry school in Southern California. I love the warm weather and the fact that Disneyland is only a 15 minute drive from here!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home where my parents always taught me about Christ and the Gospel. In my teenage years, I went to church every week, and lived the commandments. But I don't think I realized the importance of the Gospel or the Church. As I prepared to serve a full-time 2 year mission, it started to hit me how much Christ really meant to me. My desire to talk with others about the church and the wonderful blessings it can bring began to increase. Once I left for Joao Pessoa Brazil, I knew in my heart that what I would be teaching others was true. It was definitely difficult in Brazil, as many people didn't want to hear our message. When I was able to share with those willing to listen I could feel true confidence and joy in the message that we were sharing. Being a member of the Church has brought me so many blessings, but one that I am especially grateful for is perspective. In this troublesome world, knowing that we have a loving Heavenly Father, and that we can return to live with him brings so much peace. Crazy things are happening all around us, and I don't think I could be as optimistic about my future, or my son's future if I didn't know the principles of the Gospel. Honestly, family is the most important thing in my life, and knowing that I will be with my wife and family even after this life, brings me a calm assurance in tough times. I know that God is our Heavenly Father, and that He loves us so much. He guides us through His scriptures, and through counsel given to us from our prophet today. I know that Jesus Christ came to this Earth and suffered and sacrificed His life for us, so that we can repent of our sins, and return to live with Him. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of God. I know that the Gospel will bless anyone that is willing to open their heart and pray to our Heavenly Father, and I hope that any who read this, do exactly that.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday. I love it, and can feel the Holy Ghost as I do so. I also love helping others out in any way I can. Throughout the week, I try to follow the example that Christ has left for us, and obey the commandments that he has given us. There are also some specific commandments that are fairly unique to our Church. I don't swear, and try to talk about good moral subjects. I don't smoke, drink alcohol, or coffee. I try to read the scriptures every day, and pray to our Heavenly Father various times throughout the day. I don't work (or even study) on Sundays.
