Hi I'm Dan Lattin

I am a husband and father of five. I am a retired ophthalmologist. I am a missionary and . . . I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, Colorado, Texas and Idaho. I played basketball and high-jumped in high school, then went to the Air Force Academy. I graduated in Civil Engineering and worked as an engineer for two years in Anchorage Alaska. One year after graduation, I married Christine Lence in the Salt Lake temple - the best thing I ever did! We have been married for 40 years and have five children and 16 grandchildren . . . all of us are sealed together. I went back to medical school and subsequently became an ophthalmologist. We lived and worked in Spokane, Washington for 27 years. We loved Spokane and raised our children there, and served in the church there. Three years ago we sold my practice, we sold our house and moved to Salt Lake City. After a year, we served a mission in Ukraine for 18 months. We love to ski and hike and we play golf and visit our grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

We didn't go to church as young people - it wasn't part of our family tradition. But we were taught what was right and wrong by loving parents. My wife investigated the Church while in college and found a happiness not to be found elsewhere. I began attending after college - I was "loved" into the church by a group of loving young adults. Since coming into the church we have found happiness and peace, and answers to our questions about why we are here and where we're going. For us there is really no other way to live, and we have been blessed beyond measure by the Lord.

How I live my faith

We have tried to serve the Lord wherever we have lived. My wife has worked with the children and young women and the adult women, and I have served in scouting and with the adult men in our church responsibilities. We have tried to volunteer our time in boy and girl scouts, at schools, coaching teams and in medical volunteering. We are trying to do things the way the Savior would.
