Hi I'm Ryan

I grew up in Idaho. I am a bus driver. I am a college student. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play sports in my free time. I'm not really the competitive type, but I love to play more to just have fun than to win. I love all four seasons because there is something to do during each season. I love the outdoors! I love nature and just being outside brings me happiness. I am a college student studying accounting. I was recently married in December 2012. Having the knowledge that I can be with my spouse forever brings so much joy into my life. I am a currently a school bus driver for the local school district. I love the interaction I get to have with the kids every day. Before driving bus, I worked for the university that I am attending. I was a grounds keeper. I love landscaping and it was great to be able to do that for my job. Even though I am not going to school to get a degree in landscaping/horticulture, I plan on having it be my hobby when I have my own house.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church for so many reasons. My parents were already members when I was born so going to church and doing the things that are taught in this church just seemed natural to me. However, as I started to get a little older, I realized that I needed to know for myself why I was doing the things I was doing and avoiding the things that I was avoiding. When I prayed to Heavenly Father and asked Him if these things were true, I had such a strong peaceful feeling come over me that I knew it was all true. From that day on I knew how I was going to live my life. Following the standards of the church has provided me with protection and great health. A few years back my lungs spontaneously collapsed on me. Surgery was performed to help my lungs get back to their full strength. The doctor told me that I had very healthy lungs. I know that my lungs were healthy and that I was able to fully recover quickly because of my lifestyle. I avoid smoking and drinking alcohol. I try to exercise regularly. The standards of the church are often misunderstand as being restrictions, but in reality they are life saving guidelines. I am also a Mormon because I love my family so much. Since I recently got married, the term family has a whole new meaning to me now. Knowing that I will get to be with my wonderful and beautiful wife forever (as well as our children that will eventually come) brings me so much happiness. I am a Mormon because knowing the great potential that I and everyone else has, and knowing how great each person is, helps me to focus on people's strengths rather than their weaknesses. This really helps me to see people for who they truly are in the inside and not by their outward appearances. It is great being able to forgive and forget people's mistakes, even though it is difficult at times. I am also a Mormon because I am so grateful for Jesus Christ and for the sacrifice that He made. I am a Mormon because I love him. I know these things are true!!

How I live my faith

Going to church every Sunday gives me the strength that I need to get through each week. I love being able to participate and share my insights that I had over the week. Often times, the comments that I make help other members with struggles they may be going through. I love being able to visit the families I am assigned to visit each month. It's great getting to know other members on a more personal level by visiting them in their homes. I have had many opportunities to serve others. I have been a teacher for a group of young men and women and it was a great feeling knowing that I was having a good impact on their lives to help them grow up and be good people.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Ryan
No, there are no race or color restrictions. Every faithful and worthy person may be a member of the church. Also, every faithful and worthy man that is already a member may receive the priesthood. Show more Show less
