Hi I'm Tyler North

I grew up in Northern California, I'm an outdoor adventurist, I go to Brigham Young University, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Tyler, and I'm a convert to the LDS church. I was baptized in May of 2012, and I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was raised by good parents, and unfortunately they decided to divorce when I was young. I have one sister, who was baptized a member of the LDS church a few years ago, and is now married and has a son. I currently go to Brigham Young University in Utah, and I am studying business management in hopes of a career in law enforcement or management. I enjoyed my time at college and i look forward to coming back in two years. Currently I am serving a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been called to serve in the Buenos Aires West mission of Argentina. Being a missionary is a great experience to dedicate all my time to serving the Lord and people of Argentina.

Why I am a Mormon

I made the decision in May of 2012 to become a Mormon. I had been investigating and going to church for a long time before that, but it just took me a while to decide for myself whether or not I wanted to be baptized. It started with the missionaries, who were referred to my family by my dentist who is LDS. Over the years, I continued to go to church activities, and slowly learned more about the gospel. Then i went to a youth camp called EFY, that really changed my life. It was the time in my life where I decided to put all my mistakes and misdeeds behind me, and start a new life. It wasn't easy at all, but within a year I was ready to be baptized. I graduated high school on that Friday, and was Baptized and confirmed on Sunday. My new life had begun. My new life continued when I moved out to Utah to attend BYU, where my testimony continued to grow. The people who befriended me in my ward and family friends I knew from California, really helped me to grow and be nurtured by the good word of God. I am a Mormon because I believe God has a plan for us. We may not know all the specifics, like what job we will have, who we will marry or when we will die, but I know it all fits into God's plan: The plan of Salvation. He has given us the greatest gift we could ever receive: The Atonement of Jesus Christ for all of our sins. I have seen the change that has come in my life just by living my life knowing these two things. It has brought happiness to my life knowing that God has plans for me, and even though I may make mistakes along the way, he will help me and guide me. Christ truly is our Savior, and I will go tell that to the people of Buenos Aires, Argentina for two years as I am called to be a full-time missionary.

How I live my faith

Right now, I live my faith by serving as a full time missionary. Every waking day I serve my God. I also live my faith by participating in my ward at BYU, and serving in my callings. I've served as a music director and a Sunday school teacher before as parts of my church callings. I've also been a home teacher here in my ward at BYU, which is a great opportunity to teach pairs of people in my ward with my roommates. It gives us an extra opportunity to go see the people of our ward and make sure they are comforted through their struggles. While I am no spiritual giant or authorized minister who went to college, I live my faith by just trying to be a good person. Just like Nephi, I like plain and simple truths. And the Gospel of Jesus Christ will help me to be a better person by taking upon the qualities of Jesus Christ, slowly but surely.
