Hi I'm Adam Gibby

I am a missionary in Oaxaca Mexico. I love sports, animals, BYU and anything involving the gospel. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports! I have played basketball, football, track, cross country and started an ultimate frisbee league. I am currently serving a mission in Oaxaca, Mexico for two years. I also am enrolled at BYU where I plan on studying in business managment or communications. My ultimate dream is to be part of a sports team managing or having some kind of business connection. I have 2 younger sisters and then my Mom and Dad and we LOVE vacations. I have been to and seen Cozumel Mexico, Playa Del Carmen Mexico, The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Rotan Honduras, and I think 32 of the United States. I love animals! I have a cat named Snowball and Bunny named Pyushi (Zapoteco). I love outdoors, and just having fun doing crazy stuff!

Why I am a Mormon

Alot of people ask and think that the only reason that I am Mormon is because I was born to parents who both were members but that is not true. When I was 17 I went to a church activity called EFY. There I had a teacher who asked us if we really had a testimony that this gospel is really true. He told us that if we didnt really truly know to pray and to ask God for an answer. That night I kneeled and prayed and asked if it really was true, becuase I really didnt know. The next day I attended a class about the life of Jesus Christ and honestly it was a message I had heard many times before. But the teacher Brother Peterson somehow was able to teach me in such a way that the spirit was able to answer for me that it was all true. I knew it was true, it was a feeling I cant really explain. From that point of my life until now I can say that I know that this church is true. I know that Christ died for us so that we can live with our Heavenly Father again. I know that Joseph Smith really did see God the Father and Jesus Christ and with their help restored the gospel back to earth. I know the scriptures are true. I know that when are doing what's right we will be blessed. I love the church. I love its people and I love the effect that it has had in my life.

How I live my faith

I love to serve people. I am on a mission in Oaxaca, Mexico for two years to teach people about the things that I know to be true. I wake up every morning at 6:30 and start working until 1030 at night doing missionary work. I live in a way that keeps my standards to those of the church. I am not afraid to talk about my faith, and actually look for opportunities to do so.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Adam Gibby
NO! The whole reason for the mission program is to help others of all beliefs. I also had the oppurtunity to go to Joplin MO and serve people who had been hit by a huge tornado. That was through the church but not only for church members. Mormon Helping Hands. Look it up. Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Adam Gibby
Well the answer to this is that our thoughts are what always leads to action. For example, I wont buy a candy bar before thinking about buying it. By dressing immodestly other people are more likely to have thoughts that could be unclean that could lead to breaking chastity. Its like a billboard. If a billboard is clean, has a good message, and morals its going to draw good attention from a certain group of people. If its profane, suggests bad things, and unclean its going to draw a completley different crowd. For this reason we need modesty so that the attention we get is good attention from good people not bad attention from other people. This also applies to language, the words we use also lead to action and could have meanings that could be taken the wrong way Show more Show less
