Why I am a Mormon

The Lord commanded,"Seek learning, even by study and also faith" (D&C 88:118) Breaking down this scripture... To 'seek learning'- to search for knowledge, even by 'study'- study using the words of the prophets (scriptures, talks, etc.) 'And also by faith' rhetorical question, "Why, 'also by faith'." Because true knowing comes from action (experiment). When Christ was baptized, in Matt. 3, his knowledge grew as he heard his father's voice, "This is my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." But after, Satan tried Christ in the wilderness, by tempting him to doubt his holy messiah-ship. "If thou be the Son of God, turn these stones into loaves of bread." But truth is always truth. In John 8, we see Christ (after overcoming Satan's temptation) shares true knowledge on the steps of the temple, by bearing witness of himself. Even though many disbelieved because they didn't understand where he received this knowledge, and by what authority did he have to proclaim it. But again , truth is truth, neither altered or destroyed the same with knowledge. As a mortal man, my hope [expectation] is to have my call of election made sure. As stated by Elder Neal A. Maxwell, "Additionally, multiple scriptures make it clear that knowledge is meant to be closely associated with other virtues such as patience, humility, charity, and kindness. (D&C 4:6) Now that brings to my knowing through knowledge I become closer to Christ. As a missionary, I have gained great knowledge, about my character vs. Christ character. I've come to learn it by obedience and sacrifice of what maybe good for what is right. That brings blessing, and especially the biggest blessing of repentance, or change. By diligently seeking knowledge for you to change, you will gain great knowledge and a more determination to act, which action is true faith leading to knowledge.

How I live my faith

While being a missionary our exception is to yes, baptize. But it isn't merely my soul expectation on my mission. My true expectation is to have no regrets for the things I have the knowledge that I can control. By doing this, it allows me to learn about myself and sometimes other things that take place. "Therefore gaining knowledge and becoming more Christlike 'are two aspects of a single process'. This process is part of being 'valiant' of our testimony of Jesus. Thus, while we are saved no faster than we gain a certain type of knowledge, it is also the case that we will gain knowledge no faster than we are saved! So in our different understanding of knowledge and truth, behaving and knowing are inseparably linked. Thus the gospel is inexhaustible because there is not only so much to know, but also so much to become. The vital truths are not merely accumulated in the mind, but are expressed in life as well. To become perfect as his servants, we must become as he is. Intelligence is "the glory of God". (D&C 93) The revelations also inform us that if we have, "more knowledge and intelligence" in life we will have "so much more of the advantage in the world to come." I know this Church is true from reading the Book of Mormon and praying about it to receive undoubted answers from Heavenly Father. I know by living it teachings found in the gospel you shall gain the sure knowledge, as I have, that this is true. This is how I live my faith and this is why I'm a Mormon
