Hi I'm Parker K Smith

I love playing sports, especially rugby. I enjoy my naps. I like being me. And I'm Mormon.

About Me

Like I said, I love sports. The adrenaline you get being out running and competing with other people is like nothing else. But I never really engulfed all my time with sports. Another thing I really love is being able to spend time alone. After being out in the world, with all the distractions and the tension of life, laying on the couch to read or watch a movie really helps me cope. My family is a huge contributor to how great my life is. I have a real supportive family. Whatever my interests are, they are willing to back me up and help me. I know that they are the main reason where I am today. I have always trusted my family's advice, and now I'm thankful I did. It is hard to have faith that the advice they give me will help me, but now that I have lived it I now have a sure knowledge!

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon, because I was born into the church. I am still a Mormon, because my parents tried their hardest to teach me correct principles, and I listened. Obedience is a big part in God's plan, and being obedient to our parents is only a small step in trying to be obedient to God's commandments. I consider myself a convert. I did what every body needs to do, read the Book of Mormon, pray to see if it's true, and follow through on the answer you get. It's true that you can be baptized, but not converted. How can you tell if you are or are not? Does your life reflect Christ's? That's the main way you can tell. I'm not perfect, and I won't become perfect until after this life, but if I don't try my best, I won't ever be. I do know that through Jesus Christ is the only way we can return to live with our Heavenly Father. I know our goal in this life is to find happiness in this life and eternal joy in the next. I know the path I must follow, and I know that it will be hard, but it will be worth every sacrifice! :)

How I live my faith

Right now, I'm a missionary serving in the Florida Tallahassee Mission. I am learning from all the different people, and really trying to let it all sink in. I may be out teaching people how to better their lives, but I am learning valuable things from them also. Having charity is one of the most challenging things we have to learn. But we are promised that it is one trait that will change our lives for the better. Being out here showing my love, and God's love, for these people by sharing the Gospel and helping them make good changes, is giving me the opportunity to be like Christ. It isn't easy either! I'm not saying this to brag, just letting you know that all the things that are worth it in our lives, take sacrifice and effort. Just like being good at anything, you need to work at it. God requires us to prove ourselves to him. Jesus Christ had to go through the same procedure, and I am very thankful for it. He showed us how, now we need to follow. I love Elder Holland's quote on this subject, "How could we believe it would be easy for us when it was never, ever easy for Him?” I know this is the way, and God has a better plan for us, but it takes humility and diligence, and all else that Christ has to make it through. The best part is, we can do it! God helps us, we just need to accept it!
