Hi I'm Nathaniel

Hi, I'm Nathaniel. I love the outdoors, I'm serving a mission in the Georgia Macon Mission, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Southern California and lived there for about the first ten years of my life after which I moved to Alaska. I live with my parents and am the 5th out the of 8 children in my family. I'm serving the Lord as a missionary in the Georgia Macon Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. People always ask me how I ever moved from California all the way to Alaska. Around the time I was born my parents pondered and prayed to ask the Lord if we should move from where we were living in California. They received an answer, they felt impressed to move to Alaska. When I was about ten years old we finally made the move. My dad was a school teacher and I remember when he worked in California, it was very soon after we moved that he began working in Alaska. About two years after we moved there was a recession in California and many teachers were laid off. I don't know if my Dad would have been laid off but I do know that the Lord answered my parents prayers and provided a way for us to do what he had commanded.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but I haven't always been active in it. There came a time in my life that I had to pray for myself to know whether it is true. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed. I didn't receive an answer instantly but I continued to pray, read and go to church. Over time I built a relationship with my Heavenly Father and I was able to receive an answer to my prayers. I didn't have a big sign or anything, I felt the Holy Ghost. To me the Holy Ghost feels like a warmness inside me, I just feel happiness, and true joy. It's hard to describe but I know that everyone is capable of receiving that answer just like I did and everyone who joins the church should receive that answer. The way to do so is by reading the Book of Mormon, going to church and asking God The Eternal Father in the name of Jesus Christ whether it is true, if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ. If you have faith that you will receive an answer and intend to act on the answer you receive, that is to be baptized, I promise you will receive an answer. It has been the biggest influence in my life for good.

How I live my faith

I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and wants what's best for me and so he's provided the gospel. A way that we can go back to live with him. He knows better than I do and provides commandments so I can be happy in this life and the next. By following these commandments I can be truly happy and become more like him. I know that Jesus Christ is the good shepherd and through him we can be cleansed from sin. The repentance process isn't always easy but it's always worth it. I know that Jesus loves every one of us but, sometimes we have trials because our Heavenly Father wants to know the true intent of our hearts. In these situations we can choose to grow closer to Jesus Christ and be happy or to disobey and have sorrow. I know I have a choice and I choose to come closer to him by reading my scriptures, praying and going to church to partake of the sacrament and feel the spirit that is there. I know how we can be happy in this life and it's by obeying the Lords commandments and becoming part of his true church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the same organization as Christs church restored on the Earth preparatory to the second coming of Christ.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It testifies of Jesus Christ and his divinity. It is a record written by ancient prophets just like the Bible and contains the fullness of the gospel. The Book of Mormon takes place on the American continents and was preserved for the prophet, Joseph Smith, to come forth in the last days before the second coming of Christ. The Book of Mormon is proof that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that he did indeed restore the church in the same organization that Jesus Christ established it himself. You can come to know it is true by reading it, pondering its writings in your hearts and asking God the Eternal Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, to confirm its truthfulness to you. Are Mormons Christians?

Many people here in the South, where I'm serving my mission, ask this question. In addition they ask, "Do you believe Christ bled and died for your sins? Do you believe that it is only through him that we can make it to Heaven?" To all of those questions I say, "yes." We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, we believe that he suffered on the cross, as well as in the Garden of Gethsemane, for our sins. We believe that it is only through and by the Atonement (sacrifice) of Jesus Christ that we can be cleansed from the harmful effects of sin and live once again with our Father for eternity. Jesus Christ literally leads and guides our church in these latter-days. Show more Show less

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

You can recieve so many blessings through the gift of the Holy Ghost! The biggest blessing of the gift of the Holy Ghost is the ability to recieve a remission of your sins. Having the gift of the Holy Ghost gives you access to the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Everyone is able to feel the influence of the Holy Ghost but there is a vast difference between feeling the Holy Ghost and having the Gift of the Holy Ghost. When you have the Gift of the Holy Ghost you are entitled to it's guidance and protection. It can also sometimes be called the spirit and the spirit can bring thoughts feelings and impressions to us to help us come closer to Jesus Christ. When you have the gift of the Holy Ghost you have a member of the Godhead with you, as long as you keep the commandments, and you are able to have that guidance. Show more Show less
